Location, Location

Posted 24-Aug-2014
Pros: Location, staff, view
Cons: Availability of a continental breakfast in the courtyard and a luggage rack in the room
Location: Exploring Positano. Boat trips to Capri and Amalfi. Swimming at the beach.
Great place to base yourself in Positano. We originally could not decide whether to be high up (better view) or close to the water in the middle of everything. We chose the latter and were not disappointed. It was great to have a balcony facing the sea and the double glazed doors blocked out the street noise at night.

Convenient hotel near Positano harbor

Posted 19-Jul-2014
Pros: Location and cleanliness.
Cons: Bathroom condition.
The location of the hotel is excellent if you are interested in spending time on beach, planning to use ferry for transport and want easy access to great array of restaurants on beach. The restaurant staffs (including receptionists can range from very friendly and helpful to just about polite). The room size and decor are ok for what you can expect at Positano at this price. We also liked the small kitchen facility. The negatives are the bathroom and somewhat lack of any service at the hotel. The bathroom shower is small, has very old shower-head and does not have any curtain. Even for a bed and breakfast (or apartment-hotel), the place lack any personalized service and warmth in customer care.

Great location

The stay was very enjoyable and would recommend the hotel for anyone staying in Positano. The room was very clean and large enough to feel very comfortable. The church courtyard is directly in front of the hotel and weddings and church activities added to the overall experience. There is also a courtyard within the hotel grounds that is very private and is excellent for afternoon aperitivi!

A Steal!!!!

Location can't be beat in Positano. Only a few flights of stairs and 30 second walk to the beach front shopping, restaurants and main beach. A similar location in any of the premier beach towns in the US would be much more expensive. Maria and Christian were quite helpful with any questions we had from where to buy the best Limoncello to how to get to "The path of Gods." In general, Positano is very touristy during the day as busses and boats drop off tourists during the day. However, at night it's perfect as only those who are actually living or renting in Positano are around so it's just the right mix of quant and lively. I would highly recommend this hotel and definitely get a room with a balcony. We spent a lot of down time on the balcony enjoying an expresso and people watching. Our particular room was around 850 Euro and included a nice sized bed, couch (pull out I believe) kitchenette with stovetop expresso maker, nice sized bathroom and very high ceilings. The building is right next to a convenience store that is fairly priced. We bought expresso here and that alone saved us alot of Euro's each morning and at night. I highy recommend this hotel.

Ok Hotel

Posted 25-May-2014
Pros: The View and how close it was to the Church and Water
Cons: Cleanliness and added amenities for the cost.
Location: The water is near the hotel also many small shops and resturaunts.
Our overall experience with the hotel is fair. My wife and I booked this hotel for all the amenities, but when we got to the hotel they had many fine print rules that EXPEDIA did not mention. We rented out the apartment for our wedding over nice room, but when we arrived their was mold in the bathtub and it was not very clean after speaking to the owner he sent a cleaning person. The cost is a bit high, and all the normal amenities other hotels offered this hotel made you pay for instance wifi had to be purchased for 10 Euros a day, they do not provide any breakfast or lunch of any sort which was fine, but having to pay for internet for such an expensive place is a bit greedy. I spoke to the owner several times he was not a bad guy, but he was all about business when it came to accommodations. It did not feel like they went out of their way for you more as if we were providing a service to them.

Excellent Value and Location.

Posted 22-Jun-2013
Pros: It was an excellent value and location.
Cons: The air conditioning wasn't excellent.
Location: In Positano you can take a boat to Capri, dine at many restaurants, drink great wine, eat gellato, shop forever, swim in the ocean, and sun bathe.
Villa Flavio Gioia is located right near the sands of Positano. The location is priceless. The property has a kitchen and there is an excellent little grocery/liquor/deli store located nearby. You have to try their cheeses, wines, and salami. Maria works at the front desk and speaks perfect English. I found her helpful. Hotel Villa Flavio Gioia has a great courtyard with an ocean view where we could relax. We ended up with a room without an ocean view, due to availability, but found it fine. We were out of the room so often.

Amazing service, friendly and speak english. The rooms have little kitchenettes which were awesome for cooking our own meals when we got sick of pizza and pasta, there is a little shop directly below the hotel where we could buy food and wine. Fantastic place, can't wait to visit again. Highly highly recommend :)

Villa Flavio Gioia - A Home Away from Home

Posted 15-Sep-2011
My husband and I spent 8 nights at Villa Flavio Gioia at the beginning of September 2011, and we left regretting we couldn't stay longer, but hoping that someday we may come back. I only have laudatory words for the owners and the personnel of this establishment! Conveniently located in the heart of Positano, in the main pedestrian part of the town and a throw away from the main beach, the Villa was our vacation home away from home. For our stay, we booked a superior studio, and, upon check-in, we have been given the key to the Attico, on the last floor. We were extremely surprised to find that our studio was the only one on that floor, and the huge terrace surrounding it was only for our private use, with a large marble table and 4 wrought iron chairs, and 2 lounge chairs for sun bathing. The view from the terrace - spectacular! The sea and the beach at the front, and the coloured houses built vertically on the mountain at the back. Inside, the studio was large enough to accommodate a small kitchenette, provided with sink, small fridge, electric stove (2 burners), and pots, pans, dinner wear, glass wear and cutlery enough for basic cooking. The cleanliness of the studio was impeccable! Every day, the towels were changed and the marble floors washed (inside, as well as on the terrace) spotlessly. The bathroom was large, with a large shower cabin and very good shower. Beach towels were also given, so don't carry yours. And don't mind the stairs (50 steps), there is no lift!
