Family vacation

Posted 28-Jul-2014
I stayed with my family of 5 (3 young teens) in 2 connecting rooms. Rooms were large and clean with beautiful views. We had a couple of issues (weak A/C and odor in water) which didn't get fixed during out stay, but hotel manager addressed them afterwards appropriately.

Very average hotel with a decent view

Posted 07-Jul-2014
Stayed here for 5 nights during our honeymoon and was a little underwhelmed. The hotel is very average and for those looking for a little more luxury on there honeymoon I would look elsewhere. The staff is very friendly and helpful although they all just recommend the same 2-3 places which made me wonder if the places were connected to the hotel somehow. The rooms are small (we had a standard) maybe the deluxe is bigger but the standard was small by basic standards. The bed is not very comfortable and the walls are paper thin so you hear everything (someone was also on their honeymoon next door ;)). Also the bathrooms are small and the Amenties very basic. Also small thing but the thin plastic cups in the bathroom indicates the level of hotel to me. This used to be a Best Western and is still at that level. The views from the balcony are pretty fanastastic, but most places high up in Positano are. Also your view is not of the main Positano beach/cove as you are on the back side of the mountain. The hotel is a very big hike up from the centre of Positano, either longer on the road or shorter but more exhausting up the steps. The first day/night it wasn't bad taking in the beautiful views but by night 5 it was a pain. Overall the hotel was average but nothing special.

Not a good value

Posted 22-May-2014
Air conditioning doesnt get cool. This was ours, but I overheard another guest in the lobby complaining about hers. The breakfast was meh. Typical European breakfast....weiners (not sausage), eggs, croissants, yogurt, cereal. It was ok, but not for 4 days in a row....the exact same. Terrible shower, the fixture kept falling off the wall, shower even smaller than typical. Bed was hard, sheets not very soft. I overpaid for this hotel not realizing it. Thought I would be getting a 5 star hotel for the$1900 USD I paid. Keep in mind I rarely complain about hotels or restaurants. I dont care about service, but I do care about amenities and the ambiance and feel of the place. Hair dryer is a joke so bring your own if you have thick or long hair. The location is not great... we are healthy young adults and had to walk many stairs to reach the good restaurants and town center. Keep this in mind if you are not up for this activity. We welcome the exercise, but would have expected a better location for the price. We had a sea view room. There was no bathtub like some others mention, so I am not sure if or how our room may have been different from others. Also, the sea view was blocked by the plants growing on the balcony rails. You could only enjoy it if you were standing up. Just be mindful of all these things when you book. We stayed in May and the weather is pleasant in May, yet the room was still hot.

Beautiful hotel with amazing view

Posted 28-Apr-2014
Pros: Location and view from the terrace
Cons: Nothing
Location: Walk into town to shop and buy a panini and drinks to bring down to the beach. The restaurant next door was perfect with an amazing wine list!
My daughter and I stayed at this hotel and loved it! Great location and amazing view from the terrace! Staff was very nice and helpful, bar was nice and room was perfect for our 2 day stay in Positano.

Well located in middle of town within walking distance of most sites and restaurants; friendly and accommodating staff; and clean and modern facilities with vistas overlooking the coast and sea beyond.

Great view, great location, friendly helpful staff

Posted 31-Mar-2014
Our room at the hotel was very comfortable with a balcony giving a great view of the Mediterranean. Bedroom with comfortable double bed, separate bathroom, small sitting area and a small desk with free wifi. The staff were very helpful and friendly. A short walk to the Sorrento – Amalfi bus stop and to the beach.

Location: Long way from Beach but great views.
Unfortunately I had an accident on the 1st. day and spent 3 days in bed before being able to get flight home. Staff very helpful but disappointed I was unable to get refund for 4 nights stay not taken up.

Hotel with magnificent sea views

Posted 25-Feb-2014
Pros: The views are to die for - absolutely beautiful.
Cons: Some of the balconies are very small - just enough room for a tiny table and two chairs. But mostly - get new mattresses for the beds!
The Hotel Art Pasitea offers all rooms with beautiful sea views. The room was small but clean and well maintained, apart from a broken handle on the shutter doors to the balcony (but this didn't bother us as we didn't use the shutters). The only real downside for me was the extremely uncomfortable bed - I don't mind a firm mattress but this was like sleeping on a sack of potatoes! I woke up in the early hours each day with the most awful back pain! Breakfast was quite limited but ok in the main, although the hot dishes of bacon, sausage and egg looked totally unappetizing - the eggs looked as though they'd been cooking all night and had the consistency of rubber! However, the hotel is well placed in Positano for access to the little beach (albeit via lots of steps!) and the restaurants and bus stop for access to Sorrento and Amalfi.

There are better ways to enjoy Positano

Posted 28-Dec-2013 on Hotels.com
While the view from most rooms is breathtaking, the hotel is totally ordinary. The breakfast is of lower quality than all the places in which we stayed in Italy, the croissants were stale, and the coffee tasteless. The manager is courteous enough but the place is really pretty basic in most ways.
