Fantastic hotel with caring and professional staff

Posted 08-Sep-2014
Pros: The staff were always helpful. You could tell they took pride in their work and wanted guests to truly feel welcome to the hotel and the town.
Cons: Little, if anything, could be improved. Minor suggestion: hotel staff could memorize room numbers. Asking for the number seemed impersonal at times.
Location: Located on Via Pasitea, there is a pharmacy about 300 m away, and about 100 m away there is a narrow set of stairs and alleys that leads to the beach.
Hotel Poseidon is a truly wonderful place to stay in Positano. Whether watching the sunrise at breakfast or having a drink on the terrace after dinner, the hotel staff are conscientious without being over-bearing and the views are stunning. My wife and I stayed here last week for our Honeymoon. We stayed in a Superior Room, which included a private balcony with a view overlooking Positano and the sea. The room itself was clean, well-appointed with antique furniture, and small but not cramped, which was fine because when at the hotel, we were often on our balcony, in the hotel's lounge or on the terrace. The bed was comfortable. The housekeeping staff kept the room immaculate. With the patio doors closed, the room was quiet. We found the hotel's location to be perfect for our needs. We were far enough away to enjoy the sounds of the village from our balcony without any one sound disrupting our stay, but able get to the beach in less than 10 minutes down the steep stairs and alleys near the hotel, if needed. Lastly, and most importantly, the staff at Hotel Poseidon were excellent. We had to check out early in the morning. Without any hesitation, one of the head servers offered to let us into the restaurant at 6:30 am for a simple meal and coffee while she and her staff prepared for the 7:30 am breakfast service. This was just one of many small kindnesses freely provided by the hotel staff during our stay, the sum total of which made our time at Hotel Poseidon unforgettable.

Beautiful and Comfortable

Posted 02-Sep-2014
We had a corner suite with a large balcony. The scenary was beautiful, the hotel is clean and the staff are very nice and helpful. Two things you should know: it's quite a walk to the beach and center of town (especially on the way back up the stairs when you're tired and heavy!). Two: if the people next door are smokers and they sit in their balcony and smoke, expect your own balcony to be useless as the smoke will come to your side and into your rooms. Other than that, we loved it, for a small village of Positano the hotel Posidon exceeded our expectations.

Traditional hotel with amazing view of Positano

Posted 11-Aug-2014
Pros: The view is amazing and the location convenient. It is clean and well run.
Cons: The bathrooms are rather dated and would most benefit from refurbishment.
Location: Fantastic location overlooking Positano.
I stayed in August and really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The staff were very helpful and the hotel is well run. Our room was large with a large terrace overlooking the bay. The pool area and restaurant have fabulous views of Positano.

Visit to the Amalfi Coast

Posted 25-Jul-2014
Pros: The staff alone made the experience of staying in Positano memorable, from breakfast to house keeping ever one went out of their way to be friendly
Cons: The bath tub shower was difficult to shower in with an extra thin bath which was hard to get in and out of
Location: Near the hotel were was great restaurants and a small supermarket. There were stairs not far from the hotel that lead down to the beach front quickly.
From the time I arrived to the time I left all the staff that I met went out of their way to make me feel welcome, it was a fantastic experience and one that you rarely happens. Marcco in particular from the front office staff that made my stay even better, there was not one question that he could not answer or give me some information on and unlike a lot of hotels all the staff seemed happy and willing to go out of their way to help. Thank you. The hotel location was perfect and so close to all the action, the my room was great with a garden view and an area I could sit outside. The Roof top bar was the perfect place to end the day with a glass of wine overlooking the Positano. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Positano, even if you have to pay a little extra it will be worth it.

Amazing traditional hotel with gorgeous views

Posted 15-Jul-2014
Pros: Very comfortable and felt very traditional which we were looking for.
Cons: The only thing I would change is the mattresses. Thery were quite firm and not as comfortable as I would have liked.
Location: The location was fantastic. Amazing views of the town and the sea. Many great restaurants and shops near by.
I have always dreamt of visiting Positano. July 2014 I finally made it there. I booked the trip on Expedia and just took a chance on the hotel. I promise you we were totally impressed with the staff, the quality of the rooms, food and pool/terrace area. It was everything we had hoped for.

Absolutely beautiful

Posted 06-Jul-2014
It was last part of out honeymoon trip to Italy. Since we walked in to hotel, the front desk greeted us with such a pleasant smile, showed us everything and took us up to our room. Location is really nice and has a gorgeous view. We stayed for 6 nights and our experience was nothing but amazing. Delicious breakfast every morning, fresh mojito and great pasta with eggplant. Pool area is beautiful but the hours are very weird, you cannot swim after 6 PM!? Really? And no gym which not a huge deal but its always good to have an opportunity to burn some calories before big meal!! Overall great hotel, great and friendly stuff and amazing view.

Beautiful Hotel

Posted 01-Jul-2014
Pros: Panoramic Views. Calm and welcoming ambience. All staff were very friendly and helpful.
Cons: We were sad to find the gym was no longer available. Please bring it back. Otherwise cannot fault.
Location: Positano offers a wide variety of boat trips and plays host to some fabulous restaurants Great destination to visit Capri, Amalfi, Sorrento & Ravello
This is one of the loveliest hotels my husband and I have stayed in. Very clean with an old fashioned but elegant charm. Perfect hotel for relaxation but also very convenient location to sight see from. Attentive, happy and helpful staff. The view from our room was amazing. We would highly recommend, we hope to go back soon.

Unforgettable views!

Posted 19-Jun-2014
Pros: Small, charming, quaint
Cons: One of our rooms was a bit noisy, but it was close to an exit by the street.
The hotel is charming and offers spectacular views of the Positano coast. The hotel staff are especially helpful and attentive without being intrusive. It is located about half-way up Positano so you have relatively easy access to the beach - 8-10 minute walk using the stairs or a 20 minute leisurely stroll using the main walkway, BUT it is up high enough to enjoy the beautiful views.

Ruined by pettiness

Posted 18-Jun-2014 on Hotels.com
The hotel is beautiful and the location couldn't be better. The view overlooking Positano is spectacular and the pool is convenient and fun. Unfortunately, we were left with a very bad taste in our mouths after our otherwise lovely stay because of the behavior of the manager. We had reserved two rooms for a total of five people, and it turned out that our eldest daughter was able to join us at the last minute. They told us that there was not enough space in the room for a rollaway bed, so they asked us to take a junior suite, for €200 more than our original room. We accepted this, but the at checkout they wanted an additional €80 for the rollaway bed in the room where my wife and I were staying with out 11-year-old son. Since everything had been prepaid, it seemed absurd that they were going to insist on still more money for our child, who had originally seemed to be free. When they refused to budge on this we simply paid, but the joy of the experience was dampened by this unpleasantness.
