Lovely Hotel in Magical Town

Posted 13-Mar-2015
Pros: Great Staff. Clean. Fantastic views
Cons: Off season snack menu not very good. Hard ceramic floors mean late arriving guests inevitably make noticeable noise.
Location: We went off season. Good because it was very peaceful and cooll. The downside is most ferries and boat rides aren't available.
We stayed in Positano 6 nights. Beautiful town, exceptionally clean and pleasant. The Amalfi Drive is spectacular but not for the faint of heart or weak of stomach. Positano is very vertical. Villa Franca is close to the top. At this time of year few restaurants are open which means either taking an hourly bus, an expensive cab or a lot of up and down hill walking to get a meal. Good exercise if your legs ar win shape. Good base for visiting Sorrento, Amalfi, and Ravello. Visit Villa Cimbrone in Ravello. Magical gardens.

Spectacular view of Positano & the Mediterranian

Posted 20-Jan-2015
Villa Franca was perfect during December even though this is during the off-season for Positano. The attention from the staff and the relaxing environment couldn't have been more appropriate.

Great location

Posted 02-Jan-2015
Pros: Great location with fantastic views. Very clean. Staff were very attentive. Breakfast was good with lots of variety.
Cons: We stayed out of season and the restaurant was closed which means that we had to go outside to eat.
We stayed 4 nights between Christmas and New Year. Thoroughly enjoyed the hotel and Positano.

Overpriced Fawlty Towers

Posted 28-Dec-2014 on Hotels.com
We arrived at the hotel to be told that the roads would be blocked the next day due to a marathon so we could either leave at 7.30am to get out in time or a late check out would be provided when the marathon finished in the afternoon. When asking the staff why we weren't advised prior to arriving they said they only just found out themselves ( hard to believe). The hotel had a total of 3 rooms being occupied so the restaurant was closed. We went to the bar and the glass of wine tasted worse than vinegar so I had to ask them to open a fresh bottle. A bowl of peanuts and corn chips was the only snack available for our dinner, no other restaurants near by. Breakfast the next day was embarrassing. The bread must have been 3 days old, the toaster was broken and no hot food served at all. Our room ( deluxe seaview) was tiny. The toilet cistern was very noisy and old. The TV was broken and our seaview was on the other side of the building, not the picturesque side, and obstructed by rooftops either side. Would have thought they would try and compensate somehow ( room upgrade perhaps) but nothing at all. Good way to ruin a holiday destination Villa Franca!!!

very expensive but not value for money

Posted 03-Dec-2014
Pros: hotel staff
Cons: as above
Location: positano
nice staff but room was very expensive compared to other 4 star hotels in italy that we stayed in, room had following problems: exposed stud used as a door stopper on the floor( health and safety hazard) exposed wiring in toilet did not clean the floor on the second day rust on bath tub did not provide kettle in the room and charged for room service and tea (very pricy) do not think that its value for money, star rating should be revised, does not deserve 4 star rating wall paint chipped was served dry and cold scrambled eggs, asked the waiter for fresh warm eggs, he reheated it and brought it back, it was inedible Very disappointed for the amount of money charged

Amazing hotel with breathtaking views

We had a fabulous stay at villa franca. The staff are professional, courteous and extremely helpful. Breakfast was fantastic and the servers kindly offer espresso drinks each morning. Loved just hanging out in the lounge over wine and some games. Will definitely come back again.
