“Very impressed with hotel location and views when having breakfast.”

Nadia who served breakfast was very attentive with our needs and also remembered our coffee order after first day.Carmel who spoke very good english was very good with local information regarding restaurants, bus service & knowledge of the Amalfi coastline. If you want to pre book your return flight you will need either your own device to do this or find an internet cafe as the Male person who worked at Hotel when asked couldnt be bothered to put himself out even though we were told this would not be an issue by Carmel when we arrived. The Hotel has fantatic veiws of the Amalfi coastline, the only issue i would have would be to book an upgraded room with a balcony which would have made our stay nicer.Hotel Fantastic value

Getting around
Useing the local Sita bus service was good value for money, but dont be in any hurry to get anywhere as buses do not run to time table.
Dining
Try to use local bars as we recieved very good service and value for money.Restaurants in Amalfi town always seemed to be in a rush to give you your bill not letting you to enjoy and relax. The exeption to this was Dona Stella pizza restaurant, always had a smile and pleasant welcome, family run restaurant food exellent.

“Disappointed”

Prior to booking my stay at La Ninfa I read nothing but complimentary reviews about the hotel online. While the location is spectacular and Maria who serves breakfast could not be more friendly or accommodating, most of the rooms are lobby adjacent without external windows and subject to the noise of the lobby at night and in the morning making it very difficult to get a good night's sleep. If you are able to book a seaview room not adjacent to the lobby, the hotel is quite nice and clean. Quite accessible to Amalfi and the beach (over 400 stairs). Very small closets.

“Very charming”

The hotel owner was very helpful. He told us a lot about the area and booked us a day trip to Pompeii. The only negative was that the beach was 485 stairs down. We were told that there is a lift being constructed this summer. Other than that, it was a wonderful place to stay.

“Dleight ful hideaway”

Stunning views from the rooms that offer a seaview in this small pied a terra that is full of personality - sporting gorgous turquoise blue floor tiles with no pretence of offering frills and trimmings. However, this location may not suit a traveller who is not experienced in Italian travel as there isn't a dedicated team of staff to handle all the detailed questions that one may have. Access is a bit quirky if you do not have a car although the walk to the town is interesting if a trifle hair raising taking into account the winding bends and oncoming traffic but plenty of time to soak up the atmosphere and take into account the beautiful coastline on your unorthdox route. Local taxis are very expensive and you must have a ticket before boarding the bus. The distances given to the attractions are a trifle misleading - Ravello and the Villa Cimbrone are 20 mins away by Bus, and Heaven's cloisters 20 mins walking distance. The blue cave is the described distance and about 10 mins by bus.

Traveller's tip
Buy transport tickets in the town & remember to validate them on the bus's and trains. Amalfi does not appear to have a Ferrovia ( rail station ) and so you need to visit the inland attractions via Bus to Salerno and then get a train - which can take up a fair amount of time given the time for the various connections. However, fully worth it - Amalfi is a charming place and the people are delightful and the surrounding coastime and views completely breathtaking.

“Little Gem on Amalfi Coast”

We have just had a wonderful holiday staying at La Ninfa. Although a bit of a walk out of town it is an absolute treasure with sea views and chocolate cake to die for! The bus stops almost outside to take you up and down this beautiful coast and if you like walking take a stroll up the Mill Valley - the views at 300 metres are spectacular!

What to pack
Bequeme Treckingkleidung.
Dining

Getting there
Getting around

Must see
Positano, Ravello y Sorrento.

Superb position over the sea. Room with sea view spacing all the Salerno gulf until p. Licosa. Ideal for relaxing not far from hystorical center of Amalfi. Family conduction with homemade cakes in the buffet are an added value to sojourn.

Area:

Amalfi, Italy: A charming cluster of pastel houses, shops, cafés and watchtowers, Amalfi seems little more than a village. However it was a great naval power and a wealthy trading republic in medieval times. Its dramatic setting in jagged cliffs cloaked in vineyards is best seen from a boat. Amalfi’s star turn is a gorgeous cathedral with great bronze doors and lacy cloisters. The nearby village of Atrani is quiet and pretty, with a fine Byzantine church.
