The hotel is heavily understaffed. Nobody has a slightest clue about five stars service. Nobody seems to know his/her role or obligations. Room service doesn't exist; same like there is no concierge or bar. Restaurant has one person to serve guests (btw, we were the only guests for breakfast and lunch).
Be careful taking the lift: one of the two to be used is ... a service lift.
No minibar. We were, according to night porter/security guy the first people this year ordering something at midnight form room service. Poor guy barely spoke Italian and English.
We stayed for one night on our way to Tuscany. The room was beautiful and very comfortable and the waiter was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious and very plentiful. Having family in Tuscany, we will no doubt be staying here on the way there or back again sometime in the future.
Just a short weekend stay, but the people were very welcoming, a lovely room with a beautiful outlook. A very nice breakfast served in a charming dining room. A historic ambience beautifully updated for modern needs and excellent service.
My wife and I spent 2 amazing nights at Karhaus last week and it totally exceeded our expectations. Not only was the view amazing (their pictures did not lie) but the facility, rooms, common areas a, spa, pool, and dining room were new, clean and very pleasing. The staff was amazing from the front desk, the restaurant, and the spa, courteous, helpful, and very friendly. The Chef was amazing and adapted his recipes to accommodate my wife's food allergies without any impact on the quality or flavor of the food; in other words they totally lived up to their healthy lifestyle passion and mission. Most staff spoke English so there was no language barrier. The drives up and down were thrilling as the road is narrow but well worth the challenge. We would recommend for those who don't enjoy such rides to hire a taxi or perhaps see if the hotel could pick you up at the train station. We are DEFINITELY going back!
We recently spend one night at Villa Principe Leopoldo in Lugano. Beautiful neighborhood setting with great views of the lake. Our room was in the "residences", which is across the street from the main hotel building, but that is really not an inconvenience at all. I've stayed at hotels where the room is MUCH farther away than in this situation. Rooms are spacious and very nice. Loved having our own outdoor patio. It felt much to me like a Beverly Hills or Bel Air setting.
