“Great location and hotel”
My husband and I booked in to the Hospes Amerigo which is a beautiful hotel and very convenient for visiting castle and other places of interest in Alicante. We were not in the main part of the hotel but a couple of minutes walk from there in beautiful modern apartments which had everything you could possibly need there. Only one downside to the rooms we and our friends had - there was a lot of noise from a cafe at the side of our rooms which went all night until about 7am or so in themorning. We let the hotel reception know and they found us quite rooms within the hotel which were very nice. Could have done with another light in the bathroom area as a bit dark. Would definitely stay there again or recommend it, staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Great breakfast there too.
“Highly recommended”
Can't wait to go back
“Fabulous, will sometime go back”
Very friendly and nice stuff, fantastic building, beautiful and beautifully lit when dark. Big and spacious rooms.
“Central location but you will need ear plugs”
The amenities in the room descriptions are not what you actually get in the room. In our apartment there was no hairdryer, bathrobe, slippers, kettle or soap. We asked for a twin room and got a double. The satellite TV didn't work and nobody could be bothered to fix it despite reporting the problem. To add insult to injury there were public works going on outside the hotel which were unbearably noisy. We were told we would have to pay extra if we wanted to move to a different room. In any event, expect to be woken up at 6.45 every morning by the power washer from the street cleaner. The location is very central and you have easy access to all main sites. Alicante is a wonderful city with plenty to see and do. The train service from the main station is excellent and you can easily explore the surrounding region - don't miss a trip to Elche. If you think you are spoiling yourselves by staying in this alleged 5 star hotel, you are likely to be very disappointed and if we returned we would look for a hotel that may have less stars but offered a superior service.
“Poor Hospes Amerigo hotel in Alicante”
Poor hotel, not a 4-5 star. Wrong room compared to what I asked for. Carpets very dirty. Floor boards not well set. No soap. No kettle or tea in room. Did get another room - was smoking (I asked for non smoking) and disgusting. Great staff and location.
“Very nice but no WiFi.”
Hotel is very nice and in a great location in the center of the old town and close to the harbour etc. My 'Dreamer' only had a frosted window which when opened looked out onto various pipes etc, so i understand why it was frosted!! The room otherwise was very nice - spacious, clean and well equiped. When I checked in I asked about the in-room WiFi and was promply given an access code etc. Got to my room and tried for hald an hour to log on without success. On my way out, I was told that there was a problem which would be fixed soon - why didnt they tell me when i asked for the access code? - could have saved me half an hour of frustration!! Anyway, contrary to their comments the WiFi was not fixed before i checked out the next day which was very inconvenient and annoying as this aspect is important to me when travelling. I told the receptionist when i checked out that i was quite annoyed and she just shrugged her shoulders. I appreciate that these things do sometimes happen, but some sort of gesture of good will - free parking, free breakfast or something would have gone a long way to make me feel a bit happier. as it is I left very annoyed and hence why I bothering writing this review.
“Oasis in a busy metroplolis”
Lovely hotel full of style and very calming atmosphere 100 yds from the paseo and everything can be reached easily, whether its shops, bars , restaurants, port or beach. Breakfast is cheaper if you book it at the time of check in, but there are some great breakfast places in the vicinity.
“Lovely hotel”
My wife and I went to Alicante for the weekend and this hotel was absolutely fantastic. The little tapas bar opposite is quite pricey but the food is lovely.
“Great accommodation in centre of Alicante”
Top location for seeing the city. Swimming pool is not the best but okay for a cooling dip. Very modern interior, but no good outside sitting area. Plenty of good places nearby to eat outside.
“Great October Break”
Lovely hotel in Alicante's old town, 1min from promenade, 3mins from beach and marina, and lots of bars/eateries nearby make this the place to stay for a short break in Alicante. The only negative points (and I'm being really picky) were the lack of tea/coffee facilities in the room, and it was slightly too noisy in the rooms facing the main road, despite double glazing.

Alicante, Spain: The provincial capital, Alicante is a bustling city with an excellent beach, a new marina, buzzing nightlife, and an atmospheric old quarter. High above the port, the Castillo de Santa Barbara looks down into the Barrio Santa Cruz, a picturesque warren of whitewashed streets, its little houses with window grills and geraniums, reminiscent of Andalusia. This is the heart of the citys nightlife, full of hole-in-the-wall bars and clubs.
