“Amazing”
I loved everything about this hotel, the facilities were amazing. The staff were so polite and professional. It was very clean and luxurious, I will definitely be going back.
“away from everything”
The hotel was lovely but the location wasn't great there was nothing around near it ,the shuttle bus ran at random times ,the food in the hotel was very expensive so you either had to pay highly for a buffet dinner time or pay for a taxi to the marina which made eating very expensive ! .i think you need to hire a car if you are staying at this hotel ,as there are no pubs or eating places in walking distance near by it ,but saying this the hotel and surrounding golf course was well maintained and had stunning views
“Rediculous”
Receptionist refused to check me in before 3pm-I was spoken to with a very direct and rude attitude , although I explained I had been traveling for 27 hours to get there! At exactlty 3pm , I asked if I could be checked in . It took them another 20 minutes to "slowly" process my check in. Room was not cleaned for first 2 days. I finally walked the hallways untill I found cleaning Ladys. They finally did clean it but forgot to provide more soap and toilet tissue! A very Cold place to stay with staff that have absolutley no idea of running a hotel! They have the most pathetic in room dining menu! I checked out and booked into a CS hotel. What a great change and experience. (I have been a Ritz Carlton client for years- Tivoli Victoria is a joke!)
“Misleading location and very little to do”
We booked this hotel at fairly short notice but read a number of reviews on trip advisor as well as the hotel's own website description before placing our booking. The quality and fit out of the hotel cannot be faulted. It is, however, in the middle of nowhere being situated adjacent to a fancy golf course. The website appears to utilise the same description of local amenities as the Marina based hotel within the same chain. This is very misleading. We had understood the beach and marina area were within 5 to 7 minutes walk from the hotel. They were in fact 5 to 7 km away! The upshot of this was that there was little if anything to do by way of activities at the hotel during the day or night save for an overpriced spa. Guests are reliant on either an infrequent shuttle bus to nearby Vilamoura Marina or taxis or hire cars. The hotel food is generally ok but expensive and choice is limited. The staff are hit and miss - some are attentive and friendly, others are just plain rude. We were bed and breakfast, arrived on a Saturday evening and were directed to the buffet restaurant to get a bite to eat. The choice was poor and we ate little and were charged an excessive amount for the experience. Not a good start to our holiday. If you love to simply sit in the sun and do nothing or play golf and otherwise do nothing this would be a good place to go for a break. This is not a good choice if you are looking for something with activities at the hotel or nearby vicinity.
“What a find!”
We booked at the last minute and took other peoples comments on board. The apartment was huge, beautifully decorated, well furnished, fabulously equipped and extremely clean. The resort itself is a 10 minute drive to the Marina where the bars and restaurants are, so we hired a car and parking was free at the McDonalds in the centre of town. The bar food was good but only served until about 7pm. The hotel food is good but quite expensive. There is a courtesy bus into town if you don't fancy driving. Room service was great although a little unpredictable time wise but this was made up by a fabulous clean each day. We thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely go back.
“Would go back”
This is a beautiful new large hotel with a championship golf course. The rooms are larger than average and have a "japanese" feel bathroom. The balconies have a luxury type bed for two. The meals and drinks are slightly overpriced and there are no comlimentary tea or coffee facilities in the room, there is however a pod type coffee machine which is not free and is overpriced, so read the manual. The pool area is lovely with a waiter service bar for snacks and drinks. There are plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas and good sunbathing areas. There is a wonderful spa, but this again is expensive as expected, however we did treat our selves. There is a Kids club which is well run, so the hotel is family freindly. My daughter and I went for a break, we expected at least SOMETHING happening in the evening, but nothing, not even a piano, just a bar. One would think that in July there would be something to do in the eveniings. We had to take the complimentary shuttle bus into Vilamoura every night to eat or during the day to shop. The bus is good but doesn't seem to have the right timings , and we used taxis quite a lot to get back. Overall we would certainly go back simply because it is a very nice hotel.
“Should have stayed longer”
This was a fabulous choice for our needs. The resort suite apartment offered us the flexibility of an apartment with the services and offer of a hotel. The apartment was stylish, comfortable and well equipped. Staff were excellent and always willing to help and are prompt at attending to your needs. The Apartment kitchen was well stocked, and the added bonus of a washing machine and dishwasher made the weeks' stay at the Residences -hassle free especially with a busy toddler. The pools were nearby and had loads of lovely sun lounger to relax on. Play Area and Kids club available as well. Great play gym was close to the apartment and our son enjoyed play there whilst we had a drink. The Residence is not in the centre of Vilamoura and would require a car if staying here, however each apartment has 2 bays of underground parking which makes it easy to commute to the marina and centre. The hotel has fantastic spa and great pool to use. We had breakfast at the hotel a couple of mornings - the selection was endless and the service super. We also dined at the EMO restaurant - the food superb, staff attentive and knowledgeable - the restaurant also boasts a stunning view of the great golf course - perfect for a romantic dinner. If i had to be picky the downs were - no highchairs available for the apartment use and housekeeping come in the afternoon and i would prefer them to come in the morning to clean as it clashed with my sons nap time! Great stay and perfect for families.
“Nice Hotel but beware of hidden charges”
This hotel is bordering a UK 5 Star. It falls down on simple things such as complimentary drinking water not being provided in the room and toiletries not replinished each day. Free water is available if one joins their loyalty club but having done so we received only one bottle during our 7 day stay. These are minor issues and overall the hotel is very nice with good facilities. Ideal if you are a keen golfer as there are 7 courses on the Vilamoura complex. However, if you want to explore the Algarve and even go down to the Marina for dinner I recommend you hire a car for your stay as the hotel is a bit isolated. My wife and I found the staff extremely friendly and helpful even during busy periods. The one big disappointment we had was the fact that we were charged 25 Euro for coffee we had in our room. A Nespresso machine is provided and initially 6 coffee capsules. There is no indication that these are not complimentary unless one examines the Mini Bar price list. As My wife and I do not normally use hotel minibars we had no reason to look at the price list and foolishly assumed the coffee was free, even requesting replacement capsules on a couple of occasions. If we had know we were being charged 2.50 Euro per capsule we would not have used any.We are accostumed to complimentary tea and coffee in our room as standard when staying in 5 Star hotels so you can imagine our shock when presented with the bill. I complained to the Duty Manager but was met with indifference.
“Great golf hotel”
The Tivoli Victoria is in terms of design and comfort a real 5* hotel. It is a great hotel to stay if one wants golf courses nearby and a good Spa. It is recommended to have a car to be able to go to golf courses and to e.g. the Vilamoura Marina for lunch or dinner. The service in the hotel could be improved on, especially at the swimming pool, where during our stay there was no attendant and people had to sit on sun beds etc without cussions.
“Can't wait to go back.”
I have read mixed reviews about the staff at the hotel. I have to say that we found everything in the hotel to be perfect except for location. We stayed at the Residences which were amazing. We had 3 bedroom apartments which were out of this world, kitted out to the highest standards. There was an indoor heated pool for kids and best of all, you can use the Banyan Tree's vitality pool in the hotel across the road which was like a swimming pool size jacuzzi with steam room and sauna. We had a people carrier so getting around was no problem but without transport you would be bored. I would definitely stay at the Residences again. The Victoria golf course on site was also very impressive but I did not play a round because no one in my party were golfers so maybe next time. On a final note, I found the staff to be very polite and helpful and sorted any problems with real efficiency which made our stay very enjoyable.

Vilamoura, Portugal: A modern resort created in the 1970s, Vilamoura is famous for its marina and several championship golf courses. What it lacks in local character it makes up for in facilities as one of Europes largest leisure complexes, including most water sports. By night the marina is the lively hub with bars and eateries for all budgets, plus a casino and nightclubs. The adjacent beach of Praia da Falésia is recommended.
