“It's ok, but the rooms are waaaay too small for a 5 star hotel”

Decent hotel, facilities are pretty good, but above all, the rooms mean an awful lot to most vacationers, even if they say they don't. The rooms are half the size of what they should be, and that just spoils everything. Rest of the hotel and facilities are really quite good.

Area recommendations
Vilamoura - lots of bars and cafes but oh so touristy. Val Do Lobo - Absolutely great, lovely restaurants and much more up market Quinta Do Largo - Ditto above

“Suberb”

When we arrived we didn't realise how large the hotel was. The hotel was amazing and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. We went in October and it was nice and quiet and very peaceful. This was even during 1/2 term. The spa was lovely and the outdoor bar and pools were great. The Marina is very close and the beach was very quiet and nice as most of the other hotels and holiday makers are nearer the beach on the other side of the Marina. All the food and drink we had here was fantastic. From Breakfast, cocktails and dinner everything was delicious.....We didn't want to leave hotel which is only a good thing!

Area recommendations
The area is very nice and the restaurants are all the same price around 6 euros for starters, and 14-25 euros for main courses. Everywhere seems child friendly. The only issue we had was there were 2 days of bad weather at the beginning of our break and there wasn't anything to do. We spent 1 day going around the marina and went into every shop and the roman ruins, but that was a struggle to fill a day with that. The 2nd day we went on a tour around the Algarve which was great....but that is only because there isn't anything else to do.
Dining
The area is very nice and the restaurants are all the same price around 6 euros for starters, and 14-25 euros for main courses. Most restaurants are Steak and fish houses which all serve some sort of Italian based dishs too....so covers most bases. All are child friendly.
Outdoors or beach
The beaches were lovely, very clean and safe. Take bite cream though as there can be soem bugs on some days.

“Lives up to it's 5 stars”

This is a lovely hotel, it is the third 5 star we have stayed at in Vilamoura and is definitely our favourite, no complaints at all, staff were great, lovely and clean great facilities, would definitely go again.

“Vilamoura Portugal”

We had a wonderful weekend getaway from the UK to Faro, Portugal! The hotel The Lake Resort at Vilamoura was fantastic!! Just 20 minutes from the airport. Rooms were super clean with beautiful views. 3 swimming pools to choose from, with loungers or cabanas. Pool bar was great offering drinks as well as lunch daily. If you wanted to go to the beach, just follow the boardwalk to the right and in 15 minutes you will be there. We thought we would spend time there, but realized it was so nice at the resort, why would we go to the beach? Plus we did not bring any beach towels with us! Would definitely recommend this hotel! But not for teenagers (too quiet)

“Outstanding in every way”

Pure paradise with a meticulousness you seldom see. A beautiful building, very friendly staff, gorgeous rooms, delicious foods and amenities to die for. We went for a long weekend and could have stayed for ever. The best hotel I have ever stayed in.

“Great location”

Huge grounds and 5 mins walk from stunning Falesia beach and Villamoura marina. Hotel is 5/6 years old and very comfortable. Food is pretty good too.

“A wonderful place”

The Lake Resort is a wonderful hotel in an excellent location only 5 mins walk from the Marina Service is exemplary, the staff are pleasant and extremely helpful, whatever your requirements. Rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the vies are just superb from the balcony. We were fortunate enough to have a room in the central block overlooking pools and towards the sea. The only downside was the number of very small children in the hotel. We went during term time and obviously families with children under school age were also taking advantage. Although this did not cause a problem during the day, we were disappointed to be faced with a bar full of small, over tired children during the evenings. Indeed what could have been a "fine dining" experience one evening was totally ruined by unruly children, whose parents clearly had no concept of consideration for those around them. Why take small children to dinner at 8.30pm? Perhaps the solution would be for the hotel to consider "adult only" areas in bars and restaurants, certainly after 8.30pm. Regardless of the above, on the whole, the experience was a good one, and will certainly be repeated.

“"Good resort for families, really enjoyed our stay"”

Very good resort for people with young children,good pools and childrens activity club, within a very short walk you are in the Marina where there are plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from.We would recommend this resort to others.

“Perfect for family with young children”

Lovely modern hotel, excellent helpful staff. Very convenient for walking to beach or vilamoura town. Would recommend staying B&B as loads of near by restaurants to choose from. Not a great deal to do at the hotel for older kids but perfect for babies / young family who will enjoy the man made beach pool.

“A real 5 star”

Super hotel, and a real 5 star, great staff and onsite food is excellent, amazing fresh fish, if maybe more expensive than in the Harbour close by. Good gym also, although you need to go early in the morning before it gets too hot as when we were there (July) the aircon was off and the huge doors at the front of the gym were open to the 'fake beach' - lovely but warm!
