My sister in law and I stayed here last weekend for a mini break. The weather was awful but the hotel and staff more than made up for our disappointment with the weather. We arrived to a queue to check in, but our bags were taken from us and put in a safe room while we were served with a glass of bubbly. The foyer to the hotel is really lovely with a grand piano that one of the Thompson staff played one evening. A very talented young man. Our room was upgraded to a junior suite but we still had to pay extra for a fridge, kettle and safe, this should have been included I think for a 4* hotel. However it was comfortable and very spacious and very clean. The room was cleaned every day and our beds made. We paid for half board and it was worth every penny and more. Loads of choice for breakfast and very tasty full English, although the bacon was more streak than meat! The evening meals hot selection catered for all nationalities and the salad bar was amazing and very delicious. The puddings were to die for. Don't go here if you are on a diet because you have to try the rice pudding and the bread and butter pudding, yum. In a quiet area away from bars but only a short stroll away from a pub and couple of shops and supermarkets. A 20 minute stroll will take you to more restaurants and shops. There is a free shuttle bus to the beach although we found the track and walked down. I understand you can also reach the beach via the hotel next door. Lovely beach.

we enjoyed a very relaxing holiday with our 4 year old and 18 month old children, we had an upgrade on arrival to a superior 2 bed apartment, 4th floor of main block-very large, very clean, slightly dated furnishing (a bit eighties), large balcony, panoramic sea view, also the lift up was a great help with small children and all their kit. The down side was that the view also overlooked the car park and other hotel block. Road noise was also pretty constant-I would recommend specifying pool side block. However facilities were good-indoor pool excellent given that by november the outdoor pool was a little chilly, local restaurants handy and child friendly, beach beautiful and literally on the door step- if you want a more 'strip like' reort rocha beach is a 15 min walk away, equally easily accessible were smaller cove like beaches-over all would recommend this hotel.

Our experience of this hotel was second to none. The facilities are excellent, its clean, the staff are attentive and the food is great. The beach is 2 minutes walk away where there are 2 great bars/ retardants serving excellent food. The hotel itself is in a quiet residential area making the stay peaceful and relaxing, away from the hustle and bustle of the main resorts
Estrela da Luz was an excellent choice of accommodation; efficient, friendly staff, fantastic spacious apartment fully equipped for a very comfortable stay. Our sons loved using indoor & outdoor pools, we enjoyed sauna & jacuzzi. Hugo Beatie restaurant was very good & reasonably priced, also plenty of other great restaurants to be found nearby eg The Dolphin & A Concha. Nice beach too. All in all a fab week's holiday!

this hotel is brilliant and we couldn't find a fault with it. The rooms are very spacious, bed extremely comfortable. Breakfast great , spa well worth a visit with daily specials at very reasonable rate. Staff very attentive and on the ball.
Outside area and pool are in tip top condition, this hotel is only open 4 years so everything is very modern. Our trip was also enhanced by wonderful weather. Will be back.!
