“Lots of atmosphere”
Lovely converted monastic buildings situated very close to the heart of the quiet town of Tavira which has only broken the tourist horizon in recent decades. The hotel has a peaceful atmosphere with very friendly staff and splendid food. They run an employee of the month scheme but we could not make a selection because all of the staff we encountered were excellent. Hotel is easily within five minutes walk of the centre but is on top of a hill so this could be an issue with people with health problems.
“Most characterful and convenient hotel in Tavira”
We enjoyed staying at the Pousada. If we return to the Algarve we'd stay here again (weather wasn't good so we'd like to revisit the area). The room was very nice. We visited in December and had the worst rain in living memory according to the locals. Despite being an old converted chapel, it was heated well. Nice restaurant, a bit pricy to eat there every evening but excellent buffet breakfasts. There was a special meal for Christmas Eve which was more expensive but not as good as their normal menu and no festive atmosphere. We have the following minor complaints: -room was dark, better lighting for reading would be welcome -no coffee/tea making facilities -internet instructions not clear - they claimed internet access for a fee but there wasn't a cable and couldn't pick up wireless either. If we'd managed to make a link we felt it should be free - during our stay one light bulb blew and the curtains came off the rails. We didn't report them to reception but thought the curtains would have been noticed by cleaner and would be fixed but they weren't -would have liked to have gone to read in the 'living room' (the weather was bad so didn't want to go out every day) but it was in a corridor of the hotel and didn't have the cosy atmosphere expected of a lounge in an old historic building Despite this list of complaints we liked the hotel, would stay there again and have already recommended it to someone else
“Best in Tavira, Algarve”
Authentic Poussade building with contemporary interior. No driving required as ideally situated to experience Tavira. Staff and service very friendly & efficient. An experience we would gladly repeat!
“Wish I was Still There”
Beautifully renovated boutique hotel. This hotel really has an ambiance that can't be matched with restored cloister and other archictectual details from the past. We really liked the breakfast buffet, had everything you could possibly want and more. Room was nice with comfortable bed and plush linens, slept very well. Loved the pool and public areas of the hotel, lots of great niches to relax and take a load off even if not in our room. Free internet was nice as we booked hotels for other nights, made it so easy. Loved Portugal and Tavira would stay here again if had the chance.
“hotel de charme au calme en centre ville”
Magnifique hotel, tres belles prestations.

Area:
Tavira, Portugal: A handsome riverside town, Tavira is famous for its elegant 18th- and 19th-century architecture. Shunning mass tourism, it leaves international-style bars, restaurants and shops to satellite areas such as the beach resort of Cabanas. There are very good local seafood restaurants however. Its medieval castle ruins offer a panoramic view of the town which includes some fine churches. The beaches close by are long, flat and sandy.
