“Lovely Stay in Alvor”
Lovely two weeks in Dom Joao Hotel Alvor,friendly and helpful staff,good location close to beach,pool,easy access to Alvor village with great restaurants. Day trips to Seville and Lisbon worth spending some time in these beautiful cities.
“Apart from noisy golfers a good experience”
We found the restaurant prices expensive but we love the Portuguese people & the resort of Alvor. We did not like the noisy golfers especially waking us in the early hours on several occasions.
“Best Kept secret in Portugal”
Took a chance and booked everything myself through the internet as my daughter suggested and saved a packet. Took my sister for a 3 day break to Alvor as my daughter and I had visited it on a trip to Portugal last year and found it very quaint and peaceful. Took a chance with the hotel and was a bit concerned as the prices were quite low to what I normally pay. I didnt have to worry! We loved it - from the peaceful surroundings to the close by beach and the great staff. Was surprised by the standard of food - we had booked B& B but ended up eating lunch there each day as it was lovely and very reasonably priced. Staff were so helpful and friendly. Booked myself in for a sports massage and came away minus a painful shoulder I had suffered for the last 6 weeks. The cherry on the cake!!! Ill be back again this year.
“The best choice of hotel that I've ever not made!!”
A friend and I were off to the World Superbike finale at Portimao for the weekend, our chosen hotel turned out to be no longer available so during the phone call from Expedia to inform me of the cancellation I chose the Pestana Dom João II because of its proximity to the circuit. To be honest I was not expecting too much because I had blindly chosen the hotel, I was however extremely impressed and pleased that we had ended up there! The staff were friendly, rooms clean, the beds comfortable and breakfast was good although the fruit was a little tasteless, we wandered into town of an evening (a 10 minute walk) where restaurants are plentiful, the food good and reasonably priced too! If you are attending any event at the Portimao Circuit I could not recommend this place highly enough, 10 mins from car park to car cark, can't be bad 'eh!
“Great hotel”
The hotel has recently been refurbished to a very high standard. The beach is a stones throw away and the hotel is ideally situated for the pretty fishing village of Alvor less than 10 minutes walk away.
