“More than what we expected!”
We are a couple in our 20's and this was short anniversary break of 5nights away from the London bustle. I'm just going to say from the get-go, that we had an awesome holiday and would definitely go back if there weren't so many other places to sample! Highlights - I normally travel 3star, so when I saw the hotel and entered the lobby it felt like a 4star. It was just that bit nicer. - Check in was a breeze, with friendly staff that spoke multiple languages. - We were blown away by the size of the room(s)! We had a view of the carpark but that didn't really matter as we were hardly at the hotel during the day anyway. Large lounge with english satellite channels. The stereo was excellent and has an external function but you need the right lead (3.5mm jack to Left & Right Male RCA). Fully fitted kitchen with everything you'd need to cook a feast (Note - you'd need to buy salt/pepper/oil etc). Shower and toilet very tidy and clean/modern. Basically the room was set up for a good long stay! - If we needed a taxi it always arrived v. promptly. - Because we were a couple, we avoided the pool area as the families and kids dominated. But why lounge next to a pool when you can bask next to the Atlantic?? No brainer! - Location was a bit far from the beach but the walk is pleasant and only about 10-15mins. And a taxi to the strip or the old town is only 10-12 euros, so it ain't too far! Negatives - NONE So! Overall? VERY happy with the hotel and would recommend to anyone.
“Good for the price. The location is remote”
Depends very much on what sort of holiday your looking for. Good points: Booked a one bed apartment. Very spacious. Kitchen adequately equiped (no kettle, even though we asked twice). Beds good and firm. Aircon in both the bedroom and living room. Breakfast good. Well run. Price. Bad points. No kettle! (take a travel one). Rooms a little tired, but not shabby. Large hotel with two pools, one of which is very small. My apartment overlooked the large pool. There is a good chance you may overlook a local road or a carpark. (suggest you ask in advance). Location is very quiet. Not much around the Hotel. Excellent local beach, but it is a good walk. You are not near the sea at all. Location is a long way from the Albuferia old town. That may not concern you but you should be aware. Look it up on a map first (be aware of the scale). Suggestions I had a hire car. You need one if book this hotel Sat Nav couldnt find it. So take a back up map. Try the local beach its very good. Ask for a pool view.
“Highly reccommend it for anyone”
We went during the first two weeks of June which was still off-peak and meant that there were no children there. When we arrived at the hotel we were very impressed with what we got for the money we spent! We got the 4 bed (double bed and double sofabed) studio room which was spacious and fully equipped with a kitchen. Every room gets a balcony but ours was overlooking one of the two pool areas that they have. We had gone for self-catered but they have breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets which you are still able to go to and eat like a restaurant. There are events such as live music and karaoke each night and there is also a free bus service to the beach or the strip where you can find more restaurants and clubs. If you want to walk to the beach it would usually take 20 minutes but there is a lovely ice cream cafe along the way and they give you big scoops of ice cream (unlike the strip). Other than going to the beach and the strip, we spent the rest of the holiday lying next to the pools and having a jolly good old swim to combat all the lovely food we've enjoyed each day. The Miraparque's 1/2 chicken piri piri is definitely a must try for less than 6 euros! If their traditional foods don't spark your interest, they have all the dishes such as burgers and spag bol and chips for the fussier types. They even have an indian and a chinese restaurant 5 minutes away. Overall, one of the most relaxing holidays I've been on.
“not impressed”
- hotel staff had very poor knowledge of the surrounding areas - waiter / bar man found it difficult to serve 3 tables (roughly 3 people per table!) -
“Excellent ..... with a car”
The hotel was great and the one bedroom apartment was a good enough size for me, my partner and our young son. Asked for a cot it was brought up to us half an hour later. We enjoyed our stay here, but if we had not had a car, I think it would have been slightly more difficult. The beach is 20 minutes walk away but it is up and down all the way, and a bit tiresome after chilling on the beach for a few hours. The shops and a string of resteraunts are only 2 minutes walk away though. If you are content to use the hotel's pools all day and don't mind a "stroll" then the beach won't be a problem to you, but with the aqua parks and zoo marina a half hour drive away, I would recommend hiring a car, it really made our holiday to be honest.
“Could be better!”
Booked into a 1 bed appartment which was spacious with a nice kitchen and pool view from the balcony .Tv reception included BBC 2 and ITV 1 plus a sports channel. We chose halfboard and found breakfast and dinner to be acceptable.but not exciting. Good pool area's with plenty of sun loungers.Towel hire free via a returnable deposit.. There is a small daily charge to use the room safe..Free hotel shuttle to the Albuferia strip.Pick up the touristy bus train from the strip if you want to visit old Abuferia town, very cheap and takes about 15 mins. Local beach to the hotel is about a 20 mins walk. Bars,,restaurants and supermarket 5mins from hotel. Cleaners pleasant and did a good job. Only downsides were beds and pillows too hard and dinning staff seemed to be miserable and unhelpful..Hotel managers seemed to be disinterested in their staff and of the well being of customers and at times more interested in eating! We found that some of the reception staff had acareless attitude. When checking out I was asked to pay additional charges but no breakdown of the bill was given until i insisted. Overall nice hotel to relax in if you like the quiet life with some excellent bars and restaurants. I would recommend staying closer to Albuferia for more choice and less travelling. .
“Perfect unless you want the beach...”
Great hotel! We had a two bedroom apartment which was massive. Loads of space, two balconies, two bathrooms, big kitchen and dining area plus lounge area with two sofas. Location was fine for us and good restaurant options both within the hotel and easy walking distance. Also and handy supermarket to stock up on food and drink. All around 5 minutes walk. The beach if you want it is more of a trek - took us around 15/20 minutes to walk there. Overall though, a great place to stay and if you're happy to lounge by the pool rather than the sea then you can't go wrong.
“Massive Room”
This was a great hotel and was very impressed. Admittedly, I've done self catering mainly in Greece so not sure if SC rooms in Portugal are all big, but for two people this room really was enormous and would have comfortably accommodated 4. Both pools were nice although we only used the North pool but there was plenty of space. We were also on the 5th and top floor and so had a great view and also the massive sun terrace was lovely for an evening drink. Walk to the beach was not too far and there was enough about for a quiet weekend that we were looking for. Not too far to Albufeira but more idyllic was going into Olhos D'Agua and having a meal down by the sea. Had a great weekend and the hotel was absolutely brilliant. Would definitely recommend.
“The best ever”
I can honestly say that this was our best holiday so far. The room was fantastic with 2 balconies overlooking a busy road but we had no problem with this. The swimming pool was a great attraction and don't miss happy hour cocktails... Great place thanks.

Albufeira, Portugal: The former little white fishing village of Albufeira, now densely developed beneath a sea of apartments and mid-rise blocks, is the regions most popular resort. The pretty Old Town is wall-to-wall restaurants and bars, though some local establishments and residential areas still remain. Its picture-postcard Fishermans Beach, with spectacular ochre cliffs and rock stacks, remains an iconic, albeit often very crowded, Algarve sight.
