“villa gale hotel”

perfect location beautiful view overlooking the marina . The hotel clean rooms and friendly staff at the reception , a bit disappointing with the choice of breakfast .

“Great Place”

Ideally situated. Two minutes from the marina and five minutes from a great beach. Rooms are large and very clean. Excellent pool. Great buffet breakfast. Very friendly and helpful staff. High recommended. We will be returning.

“Stranded and abandoned”

This is a 4star hotel with very good staff and well maintained facilities. Has very helpful staff on Reception. If you are seeking a decent sized indoor pool and a proper gym then this is not the hotel for you. We ate out every meal except for breakfast which was very good. Due to the volcanic ash the tour companies started to fill the hotel with other guests - no problem with that - but it gives an idea that as a large hotel during peak summer months you should not expect a quiet break. Leaving aside these problems, in normal circumstances this would be recommended for a relaxing break during the spring months.

Area recommendations
The Marina is the focal point in Vilamoura and the beaches are good but be careful on windy days as you will get burned.

“Viva Gale Marina.”

We have stayed at the Gale Marina before and eveything was as we remembered and hoped. Polite, helpful staff, excellent breakfasts and comfortable, clean rooms. Superb location. Hope to repeat next year.

Dining
Round the Marina for Lunch. Don Alfonso's for dinner, best sea bass in the world (and we have tried most!). Cataplana is also very good.
Nightlife
Try Cool Cod cocktail bar (next to Don Alfonso's). Terrible name but Nino the owener if extermely friendly and helpful. Happy hour is 6 - 10p.m. He makes a mean Mojito.

“Will definitely use hotel again”

GreatHotel Location in Villamora 2 min walk to the beach and 2 min walk to Marina.Staff pleasent and helpfull Rooms cleaned every day. Will go back again.

Traveller's tip
Sun lounges on beach are charged at 6 euro each half day. Taxi from Faro to Villamoura 28 Euro and 20 mins drive

“Very outdated 4 star hotel”

I was very disappointed with this hotel and went with it based on other reviews. Its not a 4 star hotel and the only good thing is its location but thats has far as it goes. The bathroom in our room smelt and toilet roll was very cheap. Breakfast had no wholegrain/brown bread. Staff very rude.

“Excellent location”

Only stayed for one one night, but was given one of the best rooms. Fantastic views of the Marina and excellent location for access to the resturants etc. Breakfast buffet was good, room was clean. Bathroom clean though dated. Would have been more than happy if able to stop longer.

Go to Zoo Marine for a family day out. Excellent.

“Would definitely go back”

The hotel was in great location, only a couple of minutes walk from the marina where there are loads of restaurants and bars to choose from and about 10 minute walk from the beach! The only slight negative was that not all the sunbeds stay in the sun all day so we spent the first day sunbed hopping till we'd sussed it out! Breakfast was very good and plenty of choice. Would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Drinks at the pool bar were expensive, so we stocked up on soft drinks from the supermarket which is less than 1 minute walk from hotel and put them in our mini bar in our bedroom which the hotel didn't seem to mind!

“Excellent stay at this hotel”

Cannot complain about anything with this hotel. The only comment I would make is that I felt the staff could be a little more interactive with the guests but, given that it is a 4 star (business type) hotel, their policy may be to have little interaction. We had a great holiday and would defininitely go back to this hotel.

Traveller's tip
There are plenty of restaurants to choose from in Vilamoure however, it is best to check the prices before you go in and sit down as some of them can be a little expensive. The other thing to note is that some restaurants (and shops) only accept cash, not credit cards!

“Really a 3 star hotel”

Room fine apart from poor shower. Constant music in lounge, dining room, by the pool. Dining room has everything packed very close, same with the pool. More 3 star than 4 star. Good location for the marina and beach.
