“well positioned for town centre -”
staff attentive and pleasant, building rather tired and in need of money spending on refurbishments. Not suited for disabled- to many stairs and lifts do not cover all areas of this sprawling series of buildings. Main attraction is its position in centre of town and has good underground garage because street parking is difficult. Seems popular with golfers and elderly couples.
“One of our favourites”
A comfortable and unusual hotel hidden away in the centre of Lagos. Ideally placed for marina, shops, beaches and restaurants. It is an older hotel but has kept much of it's traditional charm with a collection of buildings joined by covered glass walkways and lounges to the main restaurant and reception. The rooms are large and very clean. Outdoor and indoor pool with gym facilities. Great restaurant, Good location for exploring the Western Algarve.
“Great beach club”
We had only pre-booked for two nights but ended up staying for four, so each time we wanted to extend we ended up having to change rooms. There were some issues with keys not working, being offered a smoking room (it was supposed to be non smoking, but the smell of old smoke was quite overbearing). The staff seemed a little lost and lacked the initiative to sort things out quickly, so we wasted a bit of time this way. The hotel/resort is quite big and the quality of the rooms varied a lot. Some were quite run down and a bit smelly/musty. The best rooms seem to be in the very front section nearest to the reception area. The pool area was great and even better was the free shuttle service to their private beach club on the main beach. Overall we were happy with our stay and would recommend the hotel and a stay in Lagos to others.
“Good Hotel in a good location”
We stayed half term week with daughter and grandson - the hotel is centrally located and close to all amenities We have stayed there twice before and would not hesitate in recommending it as a good base to explore the Algarve
“Home from Home”
Not quite as good as last year. Air conditioning unit was very noisy so couldn't be run during the night. Had to wait for cups at breakfast every day but otherwise buffet breakfast quite magnificent. Bar staff not very friendly, but cocktail of the day still a fixed point of our stay. Hotel location is ideal - easy walk to either marina or old town.
“Stylish, comfortable city centre hotel”
We spent a week at the Tivoli Lagos in August and we really enjoyed our stay. By happy coincidence friends from our neighbourhood were staying at the same time. They told us they liked the hotel so much that they had been going there for years. The first room we were given was rather small and accessed from a slightly musty staircase. The reception staff were very helpful. They showed us several rooms and we chose one that was much bigger and nicer than the first one. The pool area is also fairly small and gets a bit crowded, but we were always able to get sun loungers when we wanted them (provided we got there early in the day). The hotel has a beach club connected by free shuttle bus which we visited several times - a lovely sandy beach, water fairly cold but you get used to it. The breakfasts and buffet dinners were delicious and we decided to take up the offer of three dinners for the price of two. The other evenings we went out for dinner - Lagos has masses of restaurants within a short walk from the hotel. The hotel has excellent evening entertainment and the design of the public areas of the hotel is very stylish. Apart from the hotel beach we also visited beaches further afield using the "toy train" bus. The Dona Anna beach is really beautiful and the cliffs near the lighthouse are spectacular. We had a fabulous holiday and we would definitely go back to the same hotel.
“Great Value For Money”
The hotel has a very impressive, cool, reception area with lots of space & plenty of staff to help you. Our bags were whisked away to our room beyond the pool area. A junior suite that had just enough room, with firm but comfortable twin beds, two armchairs & a balcony with a table & two chairs. The marble-tiled bathroom was spacious & the shower had plenty of power but the room was beginning to feel in need of updating. The air-con worked really well and was not noisy. The buffet breakfast was excellent and catered for most tastes. We could easily have survived on this until an evening meal. Drinks were fairly expensive except during the "Happy 2.5 Hour" each evening. The bar staff were both efficient and friendly. There were plenty of sunbeds around the pool area but we preferred the sunbeds at the beach club with its cooling breeze and we used the frequent courtesy bus service. It may appear to be a little more expensive than other hotels close by but you get plenty for your money.
“Very good hotel for adults.”
Very enjoyable holiday. Hotel good but access may be difficult for people with mobility issues. No tea or coffee facilities in rooms.
“Wonderful Hotel”
This is the third time I have stayed in Lagos, and before I say anything about the hotel, I would definitely recommend staying in this city. Although it is now becoming very focused on tourism, it is still lovely. The hotel itself was brilliant. I loved the little corridors that you feel carry you half way across Lagos, and although our room was a good 400 metres from reception, I loved it. The room itself was nice, lovely bathroom and kept extremely clean every day. The balcony didn't look onto anything exciting, but we weren't there for long. The bar was nice, my girlfriend had one meal there and she said it was nice, although a little over the price of other places in Lagos, as were the drinks (still much less than England). The breakfast was outstanding, the selection was very impressive and you would be hard pushed to come up with anything that could appear on a buffet that wasn't. The hot food was often a touch cold, however I think that was more so due to a constant line of people. The room itself was also very nice, and I would suggest sitting outside overlooking the pool if you are there early. The pool was nice, a little small with a lot of sunbeds surrounding it. It was also very shallow throughout and so no diving in which I didn't like. Also the hotel is quite large and the sunbeds are in my opinion stolen very early on by people placing towels on them. I did say to the hotel staff, but little was done. Overall though we had a great stay, and would return again
“a good location”
The Hotel Tivoli is a big hotel with a lot of space, there are extensive seating areas dotted around however, the swimming pool is not adequate for the amount of guests wanting to use the pool (we stayed in September). Also the breakfast room can be a bit chaotic, due to the high numbers of people passing through during peak hours. Breakfast provided a good selection of hot and cold food but the cups and saucers always seemed in short supply. We also noticed on the way to our room some areas away from the main public spaces looking a bit tired and in need of some maintenance. There does seem to be daily 'in house' entertainment but as our room was located to the back of the hotel we were not bothered by any noise. Onto our room ...you could see the sea but the balcony was very small with only enough room for 2 chairs. The bathroom was nice but I would say there was still room for improvement on the cleaning side of things. I should also mention the mini bar is checked regularly and you are likely to be disturbed unless you hang a 'do not disturb sign' outside the door. Would we come again? Yes probably. The hotel is in a good location for local restaurants, not far from the long promenade which leads up beaches at one end and to Lagos Marina at the other. The shuttle service to the beach also runs frequently.
