The main thing we did not like was the wall outside our room was covered in black bugs, that came into the room when you opened door. We mentioned that to management. When we came back to room we found a can of bug spray? Otherwise, pool area was great. Lovely view.

Beautiful beach stay, just needs rooms deep cleand
A wonderfully quiet, safe, and overall good stay. Big buffet breakfast included was delicious, staff was friendly. Only thing keeping it from getting a perfect score is the mold in the bathroom tiles, very uncomfortable beds, and the sofa stain (or at least I hope it was soda) on the ceiling of the room.

The was a problem with checking they gave us a room in the old part with No view and no elevator had to climb the steps with our luggage and had a really bad start my wife started crying and couldn’t sleep next morning we begged for a good room they finally gave us a different room in the newer section and wasted time to check in again the room was much better but never forget the start Thank you and regards

It was alright
It was basic. Beds not too great, sheets thin and pillows not great. The pool is nice, the breakfast decent. It has free parking. No swimming beaches nearby, and the Benagil caves are now closed.

Would love to stay again
We really enjoyed our stay at Baía Cristal! The location can’t be beat, as it is just a short walk from Centianes beach and the start of the seven hanging valleys trail. Walking the other direction will take you to algar seco and Carvoeiro. Breakfast is included, while not the most inspiring it will provide something for everyone. The real appeal at breakfast is watching the little gray cat play with olives on the pool deck. Rooms are nice, plenty of room to spread out, hangers, a small fridge, and even a sitting area to look out at the water. Some areas of white paint could use a scrub or another layer of paint, but for an ocean view at this price i can deal. We didn’t try the pool, hot tub, or spa, but they looked great.

We had a really enjoyable six-night stay Hotel Baia Cristal. The pool area was a good size and there were plenty of sun loungers to choose from. More moveable umbrellas may help for those who want to stay out of the sun in the afternoon! Our Superior Double room was of a very high standard and was overlooking the pool area, with a shaded balcony after 4pm. Breakfast was great and had plenty of choice to suit everyone in our party. It is a 20 minute downhill walk from the hotel to the centre and plenty of restaurants and bars. Taxi cost around 5 euros to come back up the hill. The only slight downside was the lack of staff in the bar/pool area and it did sometimes mean quite a wait to be served for lunch/drinks. The staff that were working were very helpful and friendly. All in all, I would definitely recommend this hotel and would certainly stay again.

Very poor maintained rooms , washroom door doesn’t lock, bed broke while someone had been sleeping on it and the electric switches were coming out of the wall.

While our room was clean, the common areas of the property were not as clean as expected. Some of the staff were not very friendly, although we did meet a few staff members who were friendly. Some of the pool loungers were in need of repair or replacing. We paid for an ocean view but had a view of a dirty rooftop before the actual ocean view. For the price we paid, we stayed in much nicer hotels for less while on our trip.

Excellent place to stay! It’s a quiet place away from the noise of the bigger cities. The cliffs are great for hiking and the beach down the road is great and an easy walk! The staff is wonderful and super accommodating!

Our suite had a nice view with awful sulphuric smell. They sent housekeeper to spread some disinfectant which masked didn’t eliminate the odor. They said sorry BUT didn’t offer to change rooms, a drink nothing. I am lifetime Marriot platinum guest attitude & service is important to us.

Good Hotel
Hotel is in a good quiet location close to Carvoeiro and other beach attractions in the area. Easy parking and in good conditions althought some areas would need renovations. Pool is nice and kept clean. Superior room was recently renovated and of a good size with balcony/ side seaview. Restaurant is probably the area that would benefit of some improvements on quality and variety at breakfast and dinner.

Wonderful hotel with great staff
My family loved our stay. My room was big with a cute little porch with beatiful garden views and a nice bath. Breakfast was always excellent with a great selection of Portuguese pastries and cheese. We had breakfast on the outside tables with wonderful views of nature and surrounded by little cute birds. The swimming pools are so inviting and the indoor pool and the jacuzzi is wonderful for people who visited when the whether is still too cold for outside pool or beaches, like us. My only complaint about the indoor pool is that it closes too early, so we didn't have time to enjoy it as we were out sightseeing the Algarve, and about the lack of wall sockets in our room. And last but not least, we so loved the view of the Centeanes beach from the top of a cliff just in front of the hotel! We've got nice pictures of the landscape from there and went down the path on the cliff and had a drink on the bar by the beach (even my 70-year-old father-in-law was able to do that, but be careful! Go by the road if you're not up for an adventure!). Oh, I nearly forgot to say how we enjoyed sunbathing around the pool or the big garden close to the cliffs and the sangria from the bar(had me hooked on that). They also offer massages we couldn't have because they were fully booked already, so book early if you want it! Price was great for all we were offered. All the staff was very friendly. We went to Carvoeiro city centre by foot and it took us less than 20 minutes walking lazily.

We chose the hotel as it is situated at a very nice beach (walking distance). There was also an access to a nice viewing area of the the beach above a cliff. That was a bonus. The room was clean. The wifi was not reaching our room so that was a bummer. The breakfast buffet was excellent - there were ample choices.

Beautiful hotel near the beach along the Algarve cliffs. Fantastic service and they even delivered a complimentary chocolate cake for my birthday. It was in the perfect location between the Algar Seco and the Benagil cave.

We recommend this hotel as it was excellent value. It is well located for both the beach and the town and it had a great pool and other facilities. Some of the ameneties and room features are older than you might expect but overall it was very clean and bright.

Hotel was close to the village, 20 minute walk down the hill. Hotel needs updating, bedrooms with mismatching decor, a new blue velvet bed with green & yellow floral curtains and furniture. Bathroom was quite dirty, rust around sink and taps, hair in the bath, water coming out of shower would stay hot then warm then cold then repeat.

Very pleasant stay at well located hotel. Staff very friendly and efficient. Services were good. Breakfast was excellent with good choice and freshness. Only negative was the juices - not fresh and very sweet. We could walk to the beautiful town of Carvoeiro from our hotel (less than 10 minutes). Parking on site with overflow car park. Nice views from hotel. Pool was clean and nice. Lots of sun loungers. Overall, very good stay and would return.

The service was fair but not good. The hotel is very dated with poor quality decor & paintwork. We had booked for B&B but were told on arrival it was room only! This is either an Expedia mistake or the hotel got it wrong! Either way we will not stay here again

Highly recommend for your stay in the Algarve area. Beautiful view, so close to beach, friendly staff, nice amenities and good location to explore other towns/cities/beaches. Breakfast was good, had a lot of options and I had been skeptical based on previous reviews, but the staff was attentive and it was decent for continental breakfast!
