“One of the Best”

My wife and I visit this hotel twice a year because we enjoy its location, high standards of hygiene and friendliness of the staff who always provide a warm welcome. We look forward to our regular visits and renewing friendships. This hotel is not for those seeking the high life although there is ample entertainment available nearby. The adjoining night club and casino provide a low cost meal and cabaret of a very good standard. Outside the hotel pool and sun terraces offerspacious and well-maintained facilities. Overall this hotel offers the best all-round experience in our opinion.

Area recommendations
The nearby town of Portimao offers good shopping and restaurant facilities while the beach at Praia da Rocha is a delight for all beach and sea activity.

“A Few Sticky Points”

September 2011 We had paid for a sea view room that was comfortable and clean enough nothing special only overpriced , there was no Tea / Coffee making facilities made available in the room. The hot parts of the buffet breakfast were cold to luke warm not kept to a reasonable heated standard, Reception was mediocre. No evening entertainment at our time there. There was no one attending the tourist information desk. Putting these facts together we would certainly not rate this Hotel a 5 Star, when you can get proper facilities at a lower rated place.

Praia Da Rocha, not overly busy.

“Greatest Beach”

We found the hotel to be very comfortable, although our street-side room on the first floor was subject to some street noise. The hotel has limited but free parking, and is near a number of rather good and some excellent restaurants. We did not eat dinner in the hotel, but the breakfasts were more than plenty. Did not use the saltwater pool, but spent our time on the beach, which is huge and relatively quiet. The hotel supplies towels, and the daily rental charge for an umbrella and lounge chairs in relativly inexpensive. We were able to take day trips to surrounding sights and towns without much effort. Other tourists mainly French, Germman, Portuguese and some Spanish. Thought there would be more Brits. Warm, sunny blue skys by day and cool evenings by night. Would love to return to Portimao and the hotel sometime soon.

Area recommendations
This is a well-known European summer resort in Portimao, Portuagal. All of the action is near the Beach and along the main strip next to the Beach and other resort hotels, restaurants, and bars. Plenty of opportunity to explore the area's quaint villeages and historic sites.

“Very impressive hotel”

Having visited on a number of occasions previously, we are still impressed by the quality of the service and the comfort provided by this hotel. Nothing is too much trouble for the friendly staff, the standard of hygiene is of the highest and the peaceful ambience makes for a very relaxing holiday. The Casino adjoining thehotelprovides an on the spot night club without impacting on the hotel area in any way.

This area is famous for its huge beaches, restaurants and night life.

“winter break”

good hotel in an excellent location offset by poor quality food in restaurants for both breakfast and dinner. we went in the off season of February half term and the resort was very quite but this should not be expected in high season

Area recommendations
The local area to the hotel is very clean and attractive but this is the off season and we are told it has a more hectic nightlife in high summer. The restaurants in the local town Portimao were clean and attractive most notably the fish ones by the river quay with storks nesting on the chimneys of the ovens although if you are driving do expect to end up in some narrow streets,

“The best hotel we have found in Europe”

We have stayed at this hotel on a number of occasions at all seasons and cannot fault it for hygiene and general comfort. The staff are friendly and courteous and always welcome our return . The decor is slightly dated as the hotel dates from the 70s although regular refurbishment and maintenance make up for this and its location looking over the wide sandy beach could not be better. On this occasion our only complaint concerned room heating due to a fault with the air conditioning system but the staff did their best to provide free-standing heaters etc. This hotel is not for those seeking the 'high life' although the adjoining Casino does provide a night club with a floor show every night. The very slightly old fashioned ambience, a peaceful atmosphere with good service, comes as a pleasant change from the majority of modern resort hotels.

Area recommendations
The magnificent beach with the sea front bars and restaurants but the location is also good for exploring other parts of the Algarve.

“We shall go back in 2011”

We stayed at this hotel from 14 -22 July 2010. The staff were exceptional. I judge a hotel by the quality of its back and front office. Reception staff, Jose, Claudio, Manuela and Suzanna, were just wonderful. The porters were too as were the housekeeping staff. This hotel has excellent facilities and I would recommend a room with a sea view. Altogether, a thoroughly enjoyable 8 day stay. Highly recommended.

Area recommendations
The Algarve has many lovely towns and villages. Our favourite is Lagos.

“would not return”

good staff....and good location.....but nothing else.well below 5 star more 3 star.. no irons in whole hotel !!!!!! no tea and coffee making facilites in the room.....poor decor in suite, small balcany no sun on all day because so narrow.

“Best hotel in the Algarve”

This hotel enjoys a splendid location overlooking the spacious Praia da Rocha beach. There is an extensive and comfortable lounge and terrace area whilst rooms are spacious, well furnished and comfortable. Staff are always friendly and helpful. The seawater pool and huge subathing area are a major attraction. The only drawback is the number of steps down to the beach but in every other respect this is a fine place to stay.

Area recommendations
Visit nearby Portimao with its shops and marina; a very pleasant town.
Events and shows
The Casino adjoining the hotel offers a nightly floor show and dinner which is available to hotel guests at a very reasonable rate.
