“Carvi Hotel Lagos”
We were very pleased with the location, but the hotel itsaelf was desperately in need of redecoration. We were based in a room in the basement, which was surrounded by the nioise of all the machinery etc, required for the hotel. The heat in the basement area was uncalled for and not akin to any other floor. The accomodation was extremely basic for the price that we paid, even having to climb steps between the bathroom and sleeping area, most inconvenient and uneccessary. Even to hang clothes in the wardrobe would have been impossible without my husband, as the height of the wardrobe was most unthoughtful and inconsiderate. Also we had problems with the restaurant facilities as one of the restaurants was closed for part of the week that we stayed and the only other restaurant available was in the centre of Lagos, it should not be too much to expect alternative local facilities to be arranged without having to source them for yourself. In fact we only used three of the vouchers provided and paid for our meals as we were too tired to complain. I am sure you would agree that this should not be necessary, but with certain language problems it can be difficult to get an answer to your enquiries, and very often 'shrugging of shoulders' was the only reply. We do appreciate language problems, but hotels of this nature should be preapred for dealing with problems of this nature.
“Amazing quality & location!”
For the average traveller this hotel provides incredible quality for the price! Amazing location right beside Praia Ana, as well as easy walking distance to all the other beaches including Meia Praia! Furthermore its a 15 minute walk to the Hostoric centre! Rooms themselves are very comfortable and many have ocean views where you can hear the waves at night.....ask for these rooms, the staff is very friendly considering its Portugal! Furthermore some of Lagos best kept secret restaurants are right up the street, away from the tourist trap of the historic centre! I would 100% recommend this hotel to anybody, especially those touring around Europe!
“Wonderful relaxing beach holiday!”
This hotel was wonderful and the location the best I have ever experienced. 2 minutes walk to a gorgeous swimming beach, 10 min walk to stunning beach views of cliffs and turquoise water beaches and 10 min walk to the lovely pebbled streets of old town. what a wonderful experience. I would recommend it to anyone you will love it !! Suggestion... buy a lilo outside the hotel and float on the water for most of your day and soak up the beautiful views...
“Good location next to the beach, but the room was a disappointment”
We were looking forward to this hotel, but it looked differently, not as nice as in the Expedia´s pictures. Our room number 7 looked like a garage. The pool was a bit dirty, breakfast average. The receptionist (some woman) was rude to us and the room was not ready for us in time! The location next to the Dona Ana Beach is great, but we would not go there again.
“I would definitely return”
Hotel Carvi provided a simple yet clean room. The breakfast left something to be desired for Americans (a lot of bread and tang-like juice) but at the end of the day, the hotel is a step away from a beautiful beach, so what more can you ask for? It's about a 10 minute walk from town, which was perfect because we could leave our car behind and not have to worry about finding parking. I would definitely stay here again.
“brilliant location!! freindly staff”
over all i would definately recommend visiting lagos,it is a very clean and safe place, and one of the best holidays i have had.
“Fantastic”
Hotel staff greeted us pleasantly even though we got there really late, our room was lovely and had a wonderful sea view to the left and a wonderful view . The bed was massive and comfortable, the hotel was so clean and our room was immaculate. . , Breakfast was simple but you could eat as much as you liked of Cereal, Toast, Hot baked rolls, hams, cheeses etc. A coffee machine that made amazing cuppercino's . There are no coffee and tea making facilities in the rooms or hotel after breakfast and in the evening the nearest cafe is a 15 min walk. The pool on the roof is beautiful and looks over the sea very stunning views even though it was to cold to use the pool it was cleaned everyday and was spotless. I would advice any age to use this hotel for a short period of time like 2 to 4 days any longer you would be a little bored as there isn,t much to do around, it is great value for money. BE WARNED the cost of a taxi from the airport was £120.00 so try and pre-book a shuttle service as this ruined our so called cheap holiday x
“Bland, dull, edge of town but has pool”
The rooms at this hotel are very bland and spartan. They are relatively clean but the bathroom was a little dirty. The rooms are poorly designed (very little storage space, no hooks in the bathroom for towels or shampoo etc) and have thin walls, so are noisy. There is a nice outdoor pool on the roof and the showers are large head/spa style. Breakfast is basic but fine - there was no juice available when I visited but plain rolls, jam, cheese and meats / cereal were available. The staff are friendly but the place feels understaffed and uncared for. It's about 20 minutes to walk into town. Lagos itself is very pleasant and I enjoyed using it as a base to explore the Algarve.
“Nice location”
The location is nice the surrounding area real calm and quite. I would best choose this area during the high season months. I went in late September and the weather already was quite cool. The hotel it's self is charming only thing the hallways are pretty noisy when people open their doors and walk up and down the hallways, you can hear loud echos of thumping of peoples footsteps. The staff speaks English, some much nicer and helpful than others. They have knowledge on their hotel but not much knowlegde on the areas public transportation or kindly give out recommendations of where to go. There are not many buses that passes through where the hotel is located, you may take a 15 to 25 minute walk to the area's downtown if you do not get lost or get a taxi for around 6+ euros. The hotel has internet but it's quite expensive, 1 euro for 30 minutes if I recall correctly, I reacll they have Wifi. If you book with half board you will receive breakfast there and get vouchers to go to the 2 restaurants they contract with. One restaurants was at walking distance the other in downtown. Most restaurants are open till 3pm and close to re-open for dinner at 6pm. The town has a small tourist train that passes by not quite often when it's off peek season. Also there are 2 local restaurants on the beach which the hotel does not contract with, and a small conviente store which their prices are quite high.
“great in October”
Air-conditioned rooms, pleasant staff and great location - 50yds from (steps to) the beach Great cafe/resaurant. perhaps not the place to go in high season summer as beach quite small and surrounded by large accomodation blocks - cosy at high tide I imagine!
