“Hard to get to”
This hotel is difficult to get to and there is nothing in the surrounding area. You could probably walk 15 minutes and get to a few restauarants but it's a 15 minute drive to the main area of Tavira. The restaurant was good but I found the hotel to be old and there were bugs.
“Nice Quiet Stay Outside Tavira”
The Villas Cabanas Park is located at the far end of large condo complexes well to the east of old Tavira. It is near the mouth of a river which has some tidal flats that are known for bird watching. Although we only stayed for one night, our accommodation would have been suitable for an extended stay. Most guests appeared to be settled in for at least a week. We had a spacious suite on the ground floor with a separate bedroom. All of our rooms including the bathroom were clean, large, and well equipped. The kitchen had a fridge, stove, microwave, oven, and kitchen utensils. We had a large balcony with sliding doors both from the bedroom and the salon. There was restaurant and a large clean swimming pool on the property. Hotel guests had access to kayaks and bicycles. Parking is free and there is free WiFi. It takes around 15 minutes to drive into historical Tavira.
“couldn't be better”
the hotel was great if I go thier again this is where I would stay. The restaurant on the other hand is very expensive and not very good and again none of the restaurants in that area are good
“Great for a relaxing break”
The Cabanas Park Resort is located 10 mins walk from the small village of Cabanas de Tavira. The village and the hotel are both secluded - if you're looking for pubs and nightlife it's not the place for you. If however you want guilt-free relaxation in beautiful surroundings, it's perfect. There are several bars and restaurants in the village catering to most tastes, all reasonably priced. There's also a (slightly sparsely stocked) supermarket, bakeries and a fishmongers so you can buy food to cook for youself in your apartment - the kitchen more than met our needs for that purpose. There's a train service that will take you along the coast if you want to do anything more than stroll in the sunshine but we really didn't! End of March is very much out of season, so I expect there are more activities and tourists as the year progresses but this met our expectations and requirements just fine. Only down point was the hotel's restaurant - seriously not worth it. But with so many other options, it's a tiny blot on a super holiday.
“Away from the maddening crowds-what a find!”
Just came back from spending a week in this 'unadulterated, friendly, typically Portugese and charming village of Cabanas.' We chose the hotel as there was a special offer at the time and the area appealed to us.Although the hotel was given a four star rating, due to the low cost of the stay we weren't expecting outstanding accomodation. What an amazing surprise we had.The appartment overlooked an estuary leading into the sea where locals could be seen from our balcony every morning collecting clams and cockles. It was beautifully quiet, situated to the far side of the village, yet still central. It was immaculately clean, very spacious and extremely well equiped, including coffee maker, electic blender/mixer etc. The staff were all very friendly and couldn't do enough to help.We will certainly be revisiting as we have found a real gem! Only advice we could give would be to avoid the restaurant which only offered an 'a la carte' menu, which was limited in choice and was very expensive. There were no vegetables or salad accompanying our meals and we were the only diners on the one occasion we visited in the evening. I think that says it all!
“Experience Old style Portugal”
The hotel is very nice and clean and the rooms have everything you need. The town of Cabanas is quite small but there are lots of places to eat. The Ideal resturant has good food and a nice atmosphere. If you are looking for a place away from the over crowded beaches and high rise apartments then this will suit you well. The beach is great with lots of sea shells and plenty of space so you can find your own little spot. The boat accross is no problem at all in fact it's quite fun. A trip to Faro old Town is well worth the effort. Look out for the Cranes on the rooftops. If you have a car a trip down the coast to some of the little cove beaches near Lagoa is also worthwhile and the scenery is wonderful. The meal of the day at the hotel resturant is good value.
“Great for a chill out”
Very positive stay. Apartment spacious- separate double bedroom, bathroom and lounge / kitchen. Good size balcony. Very comfortable basic accommodation. Pool great - good size in nice surroundings. The hot tub on the roof is hilarious - nice idea but it is tiny so you end up sitting bubbling away squeezed up against 5 strangers.. Nice if you can get it to yourself. Hotel restaurant surprisingly good - The simple menu of the day ( soup, then fish of the day, potatoes & salad, coffee was by far the best and great value at 9 euro.) Beach, accessible by free boat which takes you across the channel, is fantastic - massive wide sweeping beach, shelves off slowly. You practically have the whole beach to yourself, but N.B, no beach facilities. The staff at the hotel were great - They helped us out with bus times / late checkout/ extra towels for beach/ internet connection etc.) Cabanas is nice enough - undergoing some rework on the sea front at the moment, so unfortunately we couldn't have a sea side wander. ( FYI: very low key night life - ideal for families and couples looking for a bit of a chill out ) The apartments are a 5 min walk from the middle of Cabanas . We had a really relaxing mini break - even in March, we wished we could have stayed for longer. Particularly as a young couple on a budget, Cabans Park is a great option for people who don't want to end up in an Brits abroad hotel . A great place to have a few days of sun or use as a base to explore Portugal / Spain.
“A great hotel for nature lovers.”
This hotel is in a very special location, on a lagoon which is full of bird life. The 'room' you get is actually a small apartment with a big balcony and a kitchenette suitable for making breakfast/lunch or simple evening meal. The (outdoor) swimming pool is lovely. Cabanas is a 15 - 20 minute walk, either along the waterside or through housing & hotel developments, and there are lots of really good restaurants there. There are a few bars in Cabanas, 3 of them a bit 'pubby', but it's not really for people who want huge nightlife. The hotel restaurant is not very good, so you would want to walk in to cabanas most of the time. To get to the beach you have to walk to the far end of town and get a boat across, so that wouldn't suit everyone. The nearest boat is now reserved for the other hotel, they no longer let you on it with a Cabanas Park ticket, and you can't simply pay, so be warned - last time we visited you could use the closer service! It's our second visit and we love it.
“cabanas park resort would love to go there again!”
had a little trouble finding this place as 'Tavira' points in every direction but we didnt mind, the people were lovely, the hotel/apartments were lovely and spacious the grounds were lovely and smart, everything was clean , only 1 problem the pools were fabulous but to cold for us to go into!! some lovely food in the resteraunt in the hotel, and some lovely snack bars along the seafront.... walking distance, loved everything about the place and would love to go back tomorrow if it was possible!!!!

Area:
Tavira, Portugal: A handsome riverside town, Tavira is famous for its elegant 18th- and 19th-century architecture. Shunning mass tourism, it leaves international-style bars, restaurants and shops to satellite areas such as the beach resort of Cabanas. There are very good local seafood restaurants however. Its medieval castle ruins offer a panoramic view of the town which includes some fine churches. The beaches close by are long, flat and sandy.
