“November work trip with the family”
I was working in nearby Vilamoura but took my family with me. Overall the hotel was quite good considering it was winter. On the days I worked my wife and son spent time in the covered pool or got the free shuttle service into Albufeira. There was also a small play area and tennis courts. We didn't try any of the restaurants (snack bars closed in the winter) but they looked OK and weren't over priced. All the staff were efficient and friendly (in that order, it seems to be the Portuguese way). We had a standard 2 bed apartment which was adequate, clean and functional. It lacked a few basics (like wine glasses!) but again, if you go when the sun is out I doubt you'll be in it that much. The TV is tiny but has a good choice of channels (BBC, ITV, Sky Sports, Kids Channels). I had intended to play golf but didn't take any equipment so it made it ludicrously expense to play. However the fees were reasonable if you were staying there and had your own clubs. Disappointingly though it's only a Par 3 course, not very challenging but it looked in great condition. So overall I was happy as we didn't see the hotel and it's full potential.
“Our 4th visit in as many years”
As above. Very comfortable, great location, beautiful landscaping in the resoort, 6 pools, very clean and tidy.
“excellent would deffinately go back”
my mum my husband and I stayed for a couple of nights in october 2011. we stayed in a superia 2 bedroom apartment which was perfect for us. the apartment was big and spacious and one of the bedrooms is en-suite. bathroom was a very good size and the living room and kitchen was a decent size too. there was even a washing machine and a dryer which was very useful. the tv has plenty of english channels including sports channels. there was a nice balcony through the living room and also one throughthe en-suite room. the staff are very friendly and the service was excellent. we arrived at 11am and was told our room is not ready and check in is at 4. the lady at reception was kind enought to find us another apartment and we were checked int that straight away. we used the swimming pools which were very clean. there is a free shuttle service which goes into the old town which runs twice a day. beaches are within walking distance but some roads may be a little steep to walk down. the beaches were very clean and had plenty of restaurants to choose from. good points - nice location, friendly staff, clean apartments, plenty of swimming pools, local shops walking distance, free shuttle into the old town, bad points - bad smell from drains in the bathroom but went away after a day, we stayed in an apartment close to the main road which was very noisy at night. overall i would deffinately come back to stay at this resort. friendly staff who are always willing to hep.
“Perfect base for Algarve holiday”
Balaia Golf Village is a large complex of self catering apartments, based around a top quality golf course. It has two restaurants and numerous pools, and is about 10 minutes walk from the nearest beach. My particular apartment was huge and included all the facilities you need, as well as British TV channels! It was perhaps slightly dated in decor, but that's probably being overly harsh. The pool area was clean and well looked after and that's true of all communal spaces. I'm not a huge golf fan but I did try out the driving range, and really enjoyed it. The staff at the golf facilities are really helpful whether you're a keen golfer or like me, an amateur. Staff in general were very helpful actually, if not exactly cheerful! whilst the hotel is within walking distance of a couple of different nice beaches, you'll need to get a bus in to Albufeira old town or Villamoura. Other smaller areas are accessible by foot though. In general, particularly in terms of value for money, I found Balaia to be an excellent hotel: nice rooms, helpful staff, good activities and close to the beach.
“Relaxing Place”
The complex well spaced out the apartment we had was very comfortable and spacious with all the facilities needed (Sky TV ,Iron , Hair drier etc). The restaurant was reasonable priced and food was very good . There were three ample swimming pools and a small though quite expensive supermarket . The gold course is good although hiring equipment is expensive so best take your own bag, clubs, balls, shoes etc. We had a very relaxing quiet time and would go back again .The free shuttle bus ran into Albufeira twice a day (10 and 6) but taxis are cheap and you can walk back along the beach at low tide (80% at high tide). Their are also cheap bars restaurants and supermarkets within ten minutes walk in either direction .Recommended.
“Great Location for peace and quite”
I have been to Balaia for the past 10 years and have never been disappointed. It has neatly manicured lawns and gardens and is excellent for older guests or guests with young children as it offers nothing for tenagers or younger adults. An excellent beach is about a 1/2-1 mile walk away at Santa Eulalia, good restaurants are within easy reach for example 4 courses for a fixed price of 7.50 euros. Eating and drinking on Balaia is very, VERY dear compared to prices outside in the local community. The chinese restaurant, Italian, Piri Piri, Indian and others are all within 1-2 miles of Balaia by either a good walk or local taxi. Many other beaches are available nearby for example at Club Med and Olhos de Agua. Search for 'balaia golf village, Albufeira, Portugal' on Google Maps to see where it is.
“Summer Holiday”
Great place to stay friendly staff superb apartment good location. All facilities excellent and golf course a must if you play. The apartment had everything you needed to make your stay as comfortable as possible and the holiday village was very well maintained and managed. Excellent place to stay thankyou.
“Balaia Golf Village”
The staff were excellent and very helpful. The golf course and the amenities were great and the course was beautiful. However, the resort is starting to show some wear and is in need of some updates. There were several problems in our room. The bathroom faucet leaked and flooded the bathroom floor one night and the couch was in very bad condition. Also, the walls are very thin and we could hear what everyone around us was doing, especially the people above us at 7:00 am! But overall, the resort is nice. It's a nice location but it's a bit of a walk to the beahc and there is only one beach you can walk to. You would need a car to get to the others. There are several pools and a nice restaurant. There's also a place to eat in the golf clubhouse. I would go back but I would make sure there was no room above mine.
“Wonderful Family Resort”
Initially we booked a one room superior apartment but was delighted to find we were given a two bedroom apartment overlooking the golf course. The room was spotless with two large bedrooms, two bathrooms, utility room, large fully equipped kitchen, lounge and enormous balcony complete with table, chairs, recliners etc (I have honestly stayed in smaller rooms than the balcony space alone!!). My nine year old daughter was delighted to find that the TV had approx 15 English language channels including BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Sky Family Movies. There was always plenty of space to enjoy pool areas of which I counted at least 4 outside pools and found that most guests were from Holland and Germany which suited us fine. The onsite supermarket was quite expensive especially when only getting 1.07 Euro to the £. However there is a nearby Intermarche that has more choice and cheaper alternative. I would recommend a car which I deem essential and most evenings we drove the short distance to Oura for our evening meals however there are quieter dining choices nearer. I would fully recommend Balia as a family friendly resort that is clean, well maintained and well worthy of a repeat visit in near future.

Albufeira, Portugal: The former little white fishing village of Albufeira, now densely developed beneath a sea of apartments and mid-rise blocks, is the regions most popular resort. The pretty Old Town is wall-to-wall restaurants and bars, though some local establishments and residential areas still remain. Its picture-postcard Fishermans Beach, with spectacular ochre cliffs and rock stacks, remains an iconic, albeit often very crowded, Algarve sight.
