“Highly recommended”
We have just returned from a wonderful week at the Aqualuz Suite Hotel Apartmentos Lagos. We booked the trip last minute and got what we felt was a very reasonable rate. I must admit that I personally didn't have particularly high expectations for the Hotel, I was expecting a fairly average experience. However, what we actually experienced was outstanding. When we were parking outside first impressions were that it looked a little tired. But, as soon as we received the exceptionally warm welcome at the reception and began exploring we realised that the inside is a lot more pleasant than the external appearance would have you believe. The room was very pleasant, the staff couldn't do enough to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The Gym is superb as are the four swimming pools. Location wise the Hotel I feel is perfectly situated, about five minutes stroll from the town centre which is great to dip in to if the mood takes you but I would imagine in peak season it gets very hectic, so we relished the peaceful haven at the Aqualuz. The only slight negative we could say is that all the comments about the hard beds are correct, you have been warned!
“Will definately go back”
The Hotel and the resort were excellent the standard and the cleanliness of both was outstanding. There was something for everyone we had a fabulous 10 days I wanted to stay for another 10.
“Highly recommended”
Fantastic hotel in a great location. Good facilities, lovely rooms. Would definately go back.
“Amazing Aqualuz”
Just got back from what my wife and I considered one of the best holidays we have had. As we both work in the Hospitality industry for some 30 years, I would say that we have a good eye for detail and what is value for money. The standards at the Aqualuz Hotel are very very good, where nothing is too much trouble, right from the Management to the lovely women who service the rooms daily. We had stayed at the same Hotel seven years ago, and found it then a superb place, but now....even better!! The Hotel is built in a quiet residential area, where it is a lovely walk to the main town, and has some really good facilities near by, along with some good and value for money restaurants. We stayed on a Self Catering basis, and found it ideal for our needs, however if you wanted to stay bed and breakfast or full board the food and service seemed very good. We are definitely going to go back again next year, and will be using expedia to assist us getting there. Cant wait to be there once again and will have to make do with looking at the photos to get me through dull Winter.
“Very Good”
Loved it, stayed Augusr 29 to Sept 6 2011. Self catering, take your own breakfast bowls and a small milk pan, else you should be fine. Theres a health club attached to the hotel called Solinca, you can use this health club by requesting a voucher at reception, make sure you buy head caps for swimming (you hair needs to be covered), you can buy these at reception for 2.50 for kids or 4 euros for adults. Towels are provided, the club has 2 swimming pools (25m (1.2m dept) @27 degress celsius and a small one @ 29 degress celsius, jacuzzi @35degrees celsius) Lagos, the quick way, coming out of reception, turn right, follow the road round the back of the hotel and you will see a sub way under the main road, go through and once you pass the flats turn right and you will be at the Spar store. Lagos is 5 mins away Shops, the closest one, come out of reception, walk across the car opposite and turn left until you get to the roundabout, its next to a chinese restaurant. Beaches: 10 mins walk away, is the Donna Anna beach, has caves and kids will enjoy it, theres another one a bit smaller but again very cavy, worth a visit a few minutes further away however has 200 steps to the beach. The one in lagos by the marina is great too, its a long stretch.
“This is a great hotel to stay at in the lagos area”
I would recommend this hotel. It is spotless and has a great pool area and fitness suite. It is close to the beach and old town is within a short walk.
“Great hotel, horrible beds!”
My husband and I chose AquaLuz very last minute. It was the best deal on expedia and we needed a holiday. We had no idea what to expect so we simply hoped for the best. We both feel that we completely lucked out. The staff at AquaLuz were friendly no matter what time you spoke to them, no matter what the issue. Breakfast was wonderful, and we wished that we had added a B&B option when booking. The location was great for getting the beach (not Meia Praia, but then why anyone would want to spend their time on that beach over the tiny cove beaches is beyond me!) and into town. Maybe a 10min walk to the all the restaurants in the centre of town. Plus, the location allowed for a nice, large, FREE parking lot. And easy access to the motorway, taking you out of Lagos without going through the centre. My only main issue was the bed. I had read other reviews elsewhere that mentioned how hard the bed was, but figured it couldn't be that bad. It was that bad. I found myself incredibly stiff within 2 nights, with trouble turning my neck. By the 5th night, I was in a lot of pain. The only way I could solve the hard mattress issue was to sleep on the 3 spare blankets, using extra pillows to support my legs, back and arms. I've done a lot of traveling and slept on some bad beds, and this one takes the prize as worst. The bad bed wouldn't detour us from going back - I'd just solve the problem faster next time. For the price, it was all worth it.
“Booked last minute and very pleased with the outcome”
We booked our Easter break very late so had limited choice. We read other reviews on this hotel and thought it sounded OK so we gave it a go. We're glad we did as it's a nice place to be and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We only had breakfast one morning but what we had was good. The 2no outdoor pools are good with plenty of area for the beds. The indoor pool was in the full health centre beneath the hotel and it was a bit of a pain getting in as when we went down the receptionist asked if we had any caps? No. Do you have a locker? No. Without the caps we couldn't go in the pool but after a bit of time she offered us some from behind the desk and one of the staff kindly offered us the use of her locker. The hotel itself is a short stroll from the main town centre but you do have to go down some stairs and through an underpass where there was quite a bit of dog foul but that did seem to be a general problem in Portugal. The only real 'problem' we had was that the second bed where our 5yr old daughter was to sleep was a bed settee in the lounge and the patio door in the lounge would not lock. This meant we didn't feel safe so we pulled the bed part of the settee into our bedroom which fortunately was large enough to accommodate it. We reported the door to the Reception and they mended it the very next day so well done for that. All in all a nice place to stay and well within walking distance of some very nice quaint little beaches. We'd definitely go back.
“very Impressed”
The Aqualuz Hotel is a wonderful place to stay. Very pleasant friendly staff. .We have been visiting Lagos for 10yrs now and still think it is the best holiday resort our only wish is that we had found the Aqualuz earlier
“Will be back again”
This was a last minuit booking based on previous reviews and was an unqualified success. Rooms were just right ,with adequate facilities to self cater if required (one criticism-no kettle !) kept immaculate by the staff and very comfy. Hotel facilities were excellent with adeqate pool side facilities etc.(no fighting for loungers!) and kept spotless. Our only problem was finding the place, we had a hire car from Faro but were delayed arriving and it was early morning so no-one around to ask. If you are driving in, take the main road into town(N125) when you get to the "black ball" roundabout (you will know what I mean when you see it ) turn right, next roundabout turn left and the apartments are just on your left. You will have passed the "Intermarche" supermarket just before and it's a further 2min drive down to town if you don't turn off, walking to either is easy, depending on the weather.
