This is by far one the best resorts we have stayed at and we have stayed at resorts in Europe, Mexico and Caribbean! Great facility, with great staff, the choices of restaurants were awesome with a lot of great fresh food selection. It has a great entertainment team and great activities through the day. The rooms are pretty spacious and clean. Walking distance to the beach. Would highly recommend it and would go back again!
I was a bit dubious about the Sau Rafael Suite Hotel after I had read all the reviews but was pleasantly surprised on arrival. The rooms were very comfortable and clean and even though we had not specified a pool or sea view - we had both.
The buffet was not huge, then again it is not a big hotel, but it was of good quality and there was sufficient variety. The a la carte restaurant was very nice, although the service could have been slightly better in there. The afternoon snacks were excellent and provided something for everyone from sandwiches, salads, fruit, pastries, burger or hot dog.
My husband and I found the staff helpful and courteous.
I would have to say that I don't think it merits quite the 5 stars but definitely a 4 star. It is a shame they cannot provide wifi in the rooms and is just available in the public areas.
In a previous review someone had posted a photo of rusty bathroom door and floor - this worried me but 3 days into the holiday we discovered there was an outside toilet inbetween the two pools ...... so please ignore. Of course, having an iron door outside may get rusty. That was misleading.
I would definitely recommend it for a short break/holiday. There isn't much to do around the area so if you are looking for something lively then this is not for you but if you want a relaxing break go for it.
The entertainment was OK - for a small sized hotel, it was more than enough.
The resort is fantastic, has everything we needed and more in it (beautiful indoor and outdoor pools, entertainment throughout the day, variety of food choices, spa, friendly staff).
We stayed for a long weekend and it was great. The surroundings are charming, and some lovely walks in the complex.
Beach - wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!!! Stunning views. Miles of golden sand. Next to the cliffs.
Stayed for 5 nights and was defiantly value for money. Food was nice with a lot of variety, rooms were spotless and staff were lovely and helpful. Hotel is slightly outdated but this wasn't a bother to me and the beach was less than a 5 min walk away. Stunning sea view and not far from the local town. There was a lot of elderly guests so not really suited for a group of young people, but this could have been due to the time of year and is a popular place for golfers, though the small groups that were there seemed to have a good time
Great four star hotel with reception staff friendly curteous and professional. We arrived early and staff made every effort to get us into our room. Upgraded us as we had stayed there before so really appreciated that. Breakfast has a great choice and something for everything. We stayed B and B and hotel was very busy as it was half term week but wasn't a problem. Majority of people seem to be all inc.
Hotel clean and comfortable. Most staff were friendly and polite although 1 female staff person at the front desk could be snippy!
Cleaning staff thorough and friendly.
Unfortunately the pool was closed for 1/2 our stay due to cleaning issues.
Wifi worked fine in our rooms.
Having stayed for two weeks with my wife and 17 month old daughter, I can't recommend this family resort enough. We stayed in a three bedroom Bay View house, which had all of the home comforts needed - and very well set up for children. The staff had set up a travel cot with bedding before we arrived, and were always polite and helpful. We used the Creche and Kids Club a couple of times, and the various play areas by the different swimming pools were all well specced and safe. We ate at each of the restaurants, each offering a reasonable choice and always something healthy for the little one. The onsite shop had almost everything you could need, and lovely fresh bread each day. There were a number of areas you could relax, either by one of the pools or close to the beach. The general setup and facilities are very well considered, and we will certainly be returning for another holiday.
"Self containe holiday village with great scenery"
Had a very pleasant holiday experience, friendly staff and adequate facilities made this a holiday to remember. Massive 2 bedroomed apartment with large living space, fully fitted kitchen, both bedrooms ensuite, rear patio overlooked the pool and relaxing surroundings. Ambient music and a pool bar made relaxing easy and with mostly families noise was at a minimum.
Got to the hotel after booking through Expedia in June/July 14 late at 23.30hrs on Thursday 9.10.2014. There was no room available for 4 nights . I booked two twin rooms 9th to 13th Oct 14 and paid in full. Had my booking reference with me fortunately. The staff member said there was only one room available for 4 nights and one for two nights. After the second night two of us had no where to stay. We were told to contact you about it as it wasnt the hotels fault. I told the staff member that I had no phone to do so and no more money to book another room.
He then told us to come back to reception and he would try to sort it out as Expedia had not confirmed two rooms only one
Luckily we were able to keep our rooms. The hotel said it was not their fault.
I would stay at the hotel again - it was my 3rd time there.
I would not use Expedia again.
