“disgusting”

- disgusting room, carpet, bathroom - room smells bad - paul at the counter is nice though

Area recommendations

extended stay america. I checkedout from best western and checked-in to above hotel. Its nice. I took a studio. And its clean, design (kitchen, bathroom) is convenient etc. But I can clearly hear a guy from upstairs talking. I heard a constant thumping sound from upstairs, not sure if he was walking. I reported to front desk but they weren't that helpful.

“old and getting tired”

Older facility due for maintence and rennovation . Mold on shower curtain. Bed spread had burn holes and stains, should have been discarded. Common areas nice, service in resturant good. Beds comfortable and plenty of pillows. Lousy coffee. Good location

“Will Never Go Back”

I will never ever go back to the Best Western Sovereign Hotel. I booked my room, initially, as part of a group rate for a 'reduced price'. After booking my room, I realized that the price seemed kind of high and checked Expedia as well as the hotel site and found that I had been charged more than their normal rate. When I called back to explain to them that I would like them to honor the lower rate they refused to do so. I cancelled my reservation and booked through Expedia (who is always easy to work with). Upon our arrival we found out that the "all night shuttle" for the reception we were attending was actually 2 shuttles before, 1 shuttle during and 1 shuttle after...and by the way, the two 'before' shuttles had already left...no, we were not late arriving at the hotel. The staff was rude, the rooms were dated and dirty, they seriously lacked at passing information and the bar closed earlier than scheduled even after we told them we had an entire wedding party coming back. I will never again patronize their hotel.

Area recommendations

The "Across the Street" bar is two buildings down - service was wonderful. There is a Dunkin' Donuts next door as well. You're not too far from Stuyvesant Plaza which has a Starbucks, shops and restaurants.

“No Security”

I just stayed at this hotel. The shuttle service had to be called 2 times and took over an hour to go four miles! What is worse, they let the previous guest (unescorted) back into the room after I had checked in, and left the door wide open so that all of my belongings were vulnerable. I have traveled quite a bit, but this is the worst that has ever happened to me. I hope no one else goes through this.

“very unhappy”

had 3 kids and they only gave me a room with one bed. After coming back from taking my wife to her class at 8:30 am found a employee going through my staff, and he said he was just "checking" who knows what.

“Not satisfied”

Location was great but did not receive room we booked (king bed). Was not given opportunity to make room change. Room was very small, bed very small and uncomfortable, and cleanliness of room was lacking. Very dirty air conditioning system. Many of the group we were with came home with upper respiratory problems. Would not recommend this hotel unless upgrades are made.

“April 2011 Albany Best Western”

I was bitten by bugs in my room; room was dirty and bathroom was extremely dirty. Also the bathroom by front desk was dirty too. Would in no way recommend this hotel to anyone.

“Its an outdated dump!”

The hotel advertises a pool and fitness room. The Fitness room was barred, the men's changeroom was off-limits and the temperature in the pool room was below 60 degrees Fahrenheit. The rest of the hotel was over-heated. The handles were coming off the dresser in the room. If we had to stay in Albany any longer than just the one night we would have changed hotels.

“Great Hotel to stay in Albany”

The pool was a good size, indoors, and a picnic area around it. We had our breckfast there. The pool water was unusually warm, and it felt great after a long day of skiing. The quiet hours around the pool made it so that noise did not become a problem late at night or early in the morning. The breckfast buffet was good, and I enjoyed reading my complimentry USA Today. The beds were comfortable and my room was quiet. The only negative was thgat my non-smoking room smelled like smoke.
