“Don't go”

My girlfriend and I booked this hotel for a one night stay prior to a 2 day trip on the backwaters, for what we thought would be a short relax next to the lake, being a 3 star resort with reasonable pictures. On arrival we thought it looked a little run down, but reception area was clean and the member of staff who checked us in was polite. From there on it things were terrible. We were put in the wrong room - with no a/c, when transferred to a different room the a/c was battered and too noisy to have on. The bed were rock solid and sheets stained. There were bars across the windows obscuring the limited view of the lake. The toilet had no toilet paper. We saw nothing in the surrounding area on our approach for tourists. We made a decision in under 10 minutes that we were not going to spend any longer than necessary here on our limited time in India. We phoned the company for the backwater cruise and luckily we could start the cruise that day instead. We were gone in un under an hour. We thought this place was 30 years old and had just slowly deteriorated, but were told later that day that it was in fact new within the past few months. We strongly recommend avoiding this place.
