The location is very convenient in central Aix-en-Provence, right next to the office of tourism where you can get needed information about the town and book tours.
The hotel has a nice reception area and friendly staff. The room is decent and new, not too small comparing to Paris.
This hotel has north American standards. It's modern, big rooms and beautiful. Staff is great and accommodating. I took out one point on facilities because I found the internet connection to be slow. Signal strength was good but bandwidth slow. Other than that everything was amazing. I will definitely return.

"Hotel Roi Rene has spoiled me for all other Hotel"
Wow. This hotel was the best of our 3 week stay in Europe. Would have loved to spend all 3 weeks there! We had breakfast outdoors there each day (not included). Shopped and meandered around Aix, visited galleries, lolled around the lovely swimming pool and had a great relaxing pampered time. Spoke with Mark the Food & Beverage manager several times and he set up for us a tour of a fabulous winery nearby--Chateau la Coste--which was stunning and ultra-modern.
Stayed for 4 nights. Very comfortable bed, roomy bathroom with separate WC. Excellent s/c facilities but bring your own washing-up liquid, drying cloth etc. for times when you don't need to load the dishwasher (2 d/w tabs supplied). Garage at bottom of hill has food shop OK for essentials. Pool lovely but has ladder not steps so not suitable for some disabilities. It is also quite deep, even at the shallow end so not suitable for non/nervous swimmers. Bowling alley almost opposite has a bar and a takeaway pizza shop.
After travel plans fell through we needed somewhere in Aix-en-Provence to stay pretty quickly, and we managed to book online that day very quickly and easily, and the staff were expecting us when we arrived. They were polite and friendly, and the room was clean and comfortable, with an enormous bathroom.
Loved my room (419-- balcony, killer view). Well located about a 10 minute walk to the center city but limited parking on premises (garage nearby). Restaurant at hotel mostly ignored--too many wonderful restaurants in the open air. There's a pool next to an ancient wall that I never tried. Spa on premises
