"Modern hotel with good staff and an excellent chef"
Not just a Golf' hotel, this is an excellent place for a night or two on the way somewhere else. Near enough to a Motorway junction, a lot of parking space and in a nice location by a man-made lake. All rooms with lake view - upper rooms more than ground floor.
Properly equipped rooms - good beds, clean modern bathrooms, tea/coffee tray, mini-bar, room safe and satellite TV with UK news channel, free wi-fi in the rooms.
Not an old-fashioned French 'Chateau' with shabby chic, nor a cheap motel, this is a purpose built hotel providing all the essentials for a comfortable stay.
Perhaps unsually for France, the Staff are friendly, helpful, well trained and would be a credit to any hotel at any level. The 3-star rating here is more than deserved.
The restaurant is also well up to standard, dishes are well presented and properly cooked, modern French menu and very good value for money. We didn't have breakfast, so no info on that.

Although the room was basic, it was clean and comfortable. The food in the in-house restaurant was enjoyable. The day and night staff were all very pleasant and helpful. In all the hotel was a welcome relief from a hard day.

Hotel is in a good location with free fenced parking. Room was neat and clean, but on the small side. It was comfortable. Not luxurious, but you're not paying for that. Good, simple clean place to stay for the right price.
Excellent stop-off. Inexpensive, clean, easy to find and staff helpful.
The old town of Laon - on top of the bluff and surrounding the cathedral - is an incredible step back on town. Find one of the small restaurants and eat up there.

"Hotel full of character in a fascinating old town."
If you want the blandness of a chain hotel this one is not for you. If you like old coaching inns full of character, then you will enjoy this hotel. Several staff speak English and are very helpful, whilst the food is excellent. If you want parking, book it when you make your room booking, although there is free parking very close to the hotel.
I have to give this hotel 9 out of 10. A typical motel with everything I needed. It was quiet, roomy and was ensuite. Best of all it was very easy to find. "Leave the motorway at the Laon turn off, two miles down the road on the left". Easy as that. The check in time was up to 7pm. I didnt arrive until 9pm, thinking I might end up in the car for the night, but the management had very thoughtfully left the paper work and key for me. They had also left details of a restaurant near by in order to have some late dinner, very nice too. It is for those reasons I give it a high score.Yes ,the "pillow,"take your own unless you like putting your head on a bag of cement, not literaly, but felt like it.

I stayed there for one night with my wife and two daughters while we were on our way from London to Italy. We loved this place. It's old but has been really well maintained, was immaculately clean and was really well priced. The food at the restaurant was very good - we were impressed by the care taken in its preparation, its flavour and the overall quality of the meal. I'd highly recommend this place.
