“Only hotel with view of temples.”
The hotel / room was just as you see it on their website. You can walk from the hotel to the archeologic site in about 5-10 minutes. Only regret--when we checked in we made dinner reservations specifically to be on the terrace for the view of the illuminated temple of Concordia. We arrived at the terrace at 8pm for dinner and it was dark. Dinner was in the restaurant that night. Major change in view. The restaurant overlooked the parking lot!!! VERY disappointing, esp. when we watched an independent tour bus pull up, let the tourists (not hotel guests) walk to the terrace to view/photograph the temples then return to the bus. We guess the hotel gets paid to allow this, thus ignoring one of the prime reasons guests pay a hefty amount to actually stay at the Villa Athena--the terrace view. The hotel is quite isolated and other than a taxi back to the city, there was no dining alternative.
“First rate hotel with stunning view of best-preserved Greek temple ruins in the world.”
Excellent and comfortable. Staff very helpful. Food in restaurant is just acceptable, but wildly overpriced, though service was excellent.
“Stunning view of the temples”
We have stayed twice at Villa Athena and enjoyed it both times. Our room was beautiful and we had a stunning view of the temples from our terrace where you could sit and read or enjoy a glass of wine. We had tasty breakfasts included and we ate one dinner there on the outside terrace which was very romantic. The staff were friendly and helpful and there is plenty of free parking. You can walk to the ruins but the museum is a bit further and you may want to drive there. Villa Athena is very expensive for Sicily but worth it for visiting the Valley di templi.
“beautiful relaxing hotel”
lived up to expectations, we had a delux room - which had a large terrace with wonderful views to the temples, the standard of every aspect of the hotel was superb - setting, rooms, pool and gardens and food. We would definitely recommend this hotel. we stayed for 4 days and didnt travel far whilst there but plenty to do in surrounding area. Perfect location for visiting the temples. the Scala di Turchi is a must see beach/limestone cliff about 10km from the hotel. only a couple of minor niggles given a hotel of this standard - there were no complimentary bottles of water in the room (which seems to becoming standard both in UK and abroad) so you had to use either the mini bar which was extremely expensive and only tiny bottles or room service, which was pretty slow; and they do not accept Amex, which was a surprise.
“Stay for the view”
This is basically repeating what others have said before: the view is gorgeous and sitting on their terrace for dinner is unique. I do not think that overall the hotel deserves a five-star rating but again, the view was well worth it for us.
