Beautiful, classic hotel-food and bev disconnect.
Great rooms, stunning balcony views, really helpful front seats staff. It’s a truly beautiful hotel! The live music on Saturday nights is fun. The pool is beautiful and actually warm enough to swim in. The stairs down to the sea are nice and the swimming is fabulous. The older gentleman who offers shuttle rides to the port is so sweet and helpful. Unfortunately there is a total disconnect with the food and beverage team and the rest of the amazing staff. The breakfast that is included with your room, is supposed to run until 10:30, but you should really plan to be finished by 10:00, because that’s when the staff starts to break everything down and nothing gets refilled throughout the service, unless you ask. Every single day for 5 days, we had to ask for the tea caddy to be stocked and for the hot water to be filled. The regular water was also empty. The person working the breakfast isn’t interested in your experience at all. There are some very nice pastries but they are fairly picked over by 10:00, including the pool attendant collecting a large platter to place on the pool bar for throughly the day. There is not one single vegetable (not one!) and the fruit selection is very minimal, sliced oranges and 1 other rotating item. Most mornings, I just asked for a couple hard boiled eggs and that’s all I ate. After watching this for 4 days, on the 5th day, the breakfast host wouldn’t even give me a hard boiled egg. I did tell him I couldn’t eat anything else, but it didn’t matte

Super friendly staff with a great pool and "beach"
Super friendly staff, front desk, waiters/waitresses, drivers (Lillo and Giovanni), however a few disappointments, too. We are warned not to drink the tap water, but no bottled water is supplied (except for a fee). The air conditioning did not work on arrival but could not be fixed until the next morning. Wi-Fi works well... or not at all.

This unique setting is wonderful. With direct access to the emerald waters below and a sparkling pool, you won’t find a better setting. The views from the dining room and terraces are stunning. Lovely staff too. I wish I could have stayed longer.

Such a beautiful setting right on the sea! The chance to walk from the pool into the sea from the rocks was spectacular! A beautiful place and our only regret is we couldn’t stay longer. We would love to come back one day. What a helpful staff for us in a foreign place

This place is perfect -- each room's balcony overlooks the ocean, the rock beach is Instagram-perfect :) and the front desk and bar staff seem to genuinely want to help. If you go after the free shuttle hours, it's a 15-minute walk downhill into town, and a 15 euro cab ride back home at the end of the night. The food is good, the pool is big and the view is spectacular. I only wish we'd have stayed longer!

Great swimming pool and sea access. Rooms are a bit old fashioned but that was fine for us as we haven't spent much time in the room. The restaurant is average but everything else was great.

Beautiful views
Hotel Carasco is in a great location, just a 10 minute walk to town. The view are absolutely incredible. The accesss to the sea was easy and so beautiful. The pool and terraces were a perfect spot for evening Aperol Spritz. We loved our stay here.

Don't stay at the Carasco
The hotel is in a breathtaking location perched on a cliff overlooking the sea. Unfortunately that's the only good thing to say. The Carasco's rooms and common areas look like they were last updated in the 1980s and the furnishings are tattered and somewhat dirty. The bathrooms were small and out shower curtain was in worse shape than a college dormitory. The service at breakfast and lunch was slow...food was average which is hard to do in Sicily. The pool water was shocked with chemicals that literally stung my children and caused rashes. The area surrounding the hotel isn't great and walking into town was not convenient. The hotel shuttle was helpful...when available. After one night we checked out of the Carasco and the hotel manager forced us to pay for a 2nd night even though we expressed our dissatisfaction and outlined all of the issues. Hotel.com was no help and provided no recourse for such shocking deficiencies in the so-called 4 star Hotel Carasco.

- Great location with access to the water - Very hard mattresses terribly uncomfortable - Not many hotel staff around to help e.g tend the bar - There was last persons soap still in shows covered in hair, disgusting!

We enjoyed a very comfortable brief stay at this wonderful hotel. Location,location,location! Amazing pool,good breakfast,large room with balcony over the sea and helpful shuttle bus service into town. The !960's era design added to the charm of this great experience.

What a view
We loved this hotel, great location, right on the water with amazing pool and fantastic seaside swimming area. Incredible views over the Mediterranean and the town of Lipari. Very grand public areas and comfortable guest rooms. Very helpful and friendly staff. Our room was very clean and tidy with a lovely balcony overlooking the pool and the sea.

I loved this cute old school hotel. The pool and beach front access were both amazing. Unfortunately, the management of the hotel is rather poor. The hotel has a great pool side bar that is never attended to, and the staff always appears to be spread very thin.

This place was so magical for the price point! It's certainly a retreat away from the city but the hotels convenient shuttle makes it so easy! Breakfast was complimentary and great, honestly, wouldn't stay anywhere else!

I stayed in July 2015 with a party of 4 (2 adults, a teenager and an 8 year old). The hotel was great - clean rooms and a great setting. It's not completely modern, but has enormous charm and is very comfortable. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. I can't wait to go back.

Lovely Place with breathtaking views
Marco at the front desk was kind and accommodating. All the staff were very professional. The hotel is stuck in 1971 but still lovely. The views are breathtaking and since it is somewhat off the beaten path there is a wonderful sense of privacy.

Excellent view and location
Located slightly south of town, about a 10 minute walk, on a quiet rocky point directly on the sea, the hotel offers dramatic views of the sea. The large pool is under the rooms and a winding walkway goes down to the sea for swimming off the rocks. There is a shuttle into town. The breakfast food and restaurant have fantastic views seaward. The walls between rooms are somewhat thin but the rooms themselves are spacious and well appointed with wood carvings. We visited in shoulder season and only about five rooms were occupied. High season would be very different but for the price this was an excellent choice near town but not in the bustle of the downtown.

Spectacular location, with great views and wonderful swimming in the sea. Very clean - and staff were extremely attentive, friendly, and helpful. All in all, a superb stay - I highly recommend it.

Brilliant hotel, friendly and helpful staff who go out of their way to assist. Nice clean pool, not too busy. I liked the little platforms to go into the sea off the rocks and the sunbeds in this area.

For over $230 a night, we are very disapoint to don't have an ocean view... The hotel was not in a good area Lipari. The breakfast is excellent. Good place for families (a lot of childrens in the pool).

Free shuttle service very usefull as hotel is 15mins walk from Lipari. Fab sea views from pool side. Lovely pool, has sun all day. Down side would be renting towels, or bring your own. No free Wi-Fi . Would stay again.

An older hotel with lots of charm. A 10 minute walk to town (restaurants & activities). Our favorite featuring being access to the sea. A great area to jump into the water to cool down and watch the many boats pull into port after a hot day of exploring the island. The room was of good size, particularly by European standards. Our only complaint was the overly-firm bed.

Beautiful hotel, beautiful setting. Expensive restaurant. Older crowd, not much going on at the hotel, but easy walk to town. Our shower was terrible. We took one of the cheaper rooms, which did have some sea view, but no balcony. Good breakfast included. Overall, we were satisfied with the stay.

Hotel is in 60's time warp; similar to my parent's rec room when Spanish motifs were "in". It was very empty when we were there and it felt a bit like we were in "The Shining". Staff was mostly friendly. Loved swimming in the sea, just below the hotel pool.

A once beautiful hotel that is stuck in 1985.
Well the good news first...this is probably the nicest hotel in Lipari unless you are willing to rent your own yacht or private house. The owners are very helpful and will try to make your stay a pleasant one. The view overlooking the port and town is amazing and the pool even though extremely in need of repairs is very nice. The drive up to the Hotel from the main road is a shocking and truly adventurous experience leaving you thankful you survived or didn't crash your car or drive into the sea. Ok now the bad: it's exceptionally over priced $250 for a room with no view or a of a courtyard to another person's room (you need to pay $300 plus per night in season for a room with view of the water and/or the town) is unacceptable. The hotel hasn't been renovated since the early 80s, half of the items in the room didn't work..the ceiling fan and Air conditioning. Also in order to keep the electric on in the room (including fridge, a/c) you need to keep the plastic key in the wall slot or nothing works. The shower is a joke and parking is non-existent. It costs €20 for a taxi 10 to go and 10 to return, if you walk estimate at least 30 minutes or more to town (even at a brisk pace). Basically this is a 3 star hotel at best, but could be so much more if the owners dropped some money on renovating the place.

Wonderful location ,slightly dated facilities , but clean rooms wonderful pool and good friendly service transfers to and from the port were offered and ongoing info for our journeys were helpful . our stay was comfortabe , We were in walking distance to the main street and boats were organized for our trips around Lipari .

Hotel Carasco = great views & incredible food
Hotel Carasco is all about its position and the view - amazing! Built on the rocky seafront, the hotel has unspoilt views out to sea and towards the harbour. A great place to relax and watch the boating world go by. The hotel is a good 10minute hilly walk from the main street and harbour, but once you get your bearings its an enjoyable walk through winding streets. Our room (superior double) was a good size, air con and a fan, tv and balcony with a seaview. The bathroom was a little dated but did the job. The restaurant serves a good breakfast (cereals, fruit, pastries, cheese and meats). The lunch and dinner food was some the best we had on Lipari, delicious!, and great service too. The hotel does have a spa. A good size pool with diving boards. There are also steps down to a jetty where you can swim out into the bay - the highlight for us! The only minor negatives being that the decor in the hotel could be updated (not that thst affected our stay) abd they dont offer free wi-fi, only paid for (again not a big deal as it meant we switched our phones off!)!

Hotel Carasco is a delightful place that takes you to a classic and romantic Italy. Its setting is unsurpassable, high up on the hill with views and its own access through winding stairs to the ocean below.

No jetted tub as advertised
We booked this hotel for our honeymoon. The main reason we booked it was that it claimed to have jetted bath tubs in every room. As it was our honeymoon we were extremely disappointed to discover that all it had was a tiny grotty shower.

Good, but not so close...
We decided to stay at this hotel because of the reviews we read on the internet. The hotel itself is really nice, but it is a pain to move around because it is far from the center of to and clean, everytime you want to go out you have to wait for the "navetta" to take you to the center and tip him, unless you want to walk for a good 15 min. The most memorable thing about this hotel was the massage we got onsite...AMAZING! Ask for Giovanni if you want to get a good massage.

Fantastic location.
Lovely friendly, polite and helpful staff. Handy shuttle service back and forth from town. But fantastic clifftop location with private access to the sea, sweeping sea views and a great pool made this place magical, even if the hotel itself had seen better days.
