“Convenient & Clean”
Clean and tidy hotel, rooms smell good. Within walking distance to everywhere we needed to be.
“Terrible”
A supposedly 4 star that I find difficulty giving half a star. Rusty water from the hot water tap, black mouldy tiles in the bathroom, blistered, mouldy & flaking paint in the bathroom. The vanity unit was disgusting . The sole plate of the iron was corroded & when used spat out grunge. The 35 cm TV was analogue only. The room might have been OK in 1951 but not 2011. Not acceptable for the business traveller today.
“Overnight in Adelaide”
.
“Couldnt wait to get out”
From the minute we stepped out of the lift, the carpet was stained and our room was around the corridor, over a wooden floor and further twists and turns and a very strong damp smell to this little shoe box room with a bathroom someone skinny would have trouble going into . I felt immediately hemmed in and worried if there was a fire would I get out. The TV was so small that you would have to sit under it. We then upgraded to a "deluxe room" which we took one look at and left and booked elsewhere.
“Mercure Grosvenor - a run down backpackers”
We arrived at 11pm and received a "polite" welcome, not too friendly. Got to the room which was at the run-down back end of the hotel. The room itself was very second rate, though the beds were comfy. There was a strong smell of mildew which we rang and complained about. No other rooms available. Upon having a shower, the drains were blocked and so the whole bathroom was flooded - explains the mildew smell. Maintenance attended the next day and we received a complimentary breakfast. Dry-cleaning was also FOC as it was on the bathroom floor - though on check-out they did try to charge me for it. Breakfast is very expensive and not much to choose from the menu for dinner. Location wise, it's very good. Rundall Mall is only a short walk, tram station across road and plenty of restaurants/cafe's to choose from. I'd give it a 2-star rating - not somewhere to stay if you wanted to spoil someone. Definitely not worth the money we paid..
“AREMT”
Dissapointed with the BOX size room and double bed, small TV,amenities...long corridors to get to 1 set of lifts....
“Not impressed with room I was given”
I was put in a boxy little room at the back of the hotel with no aircon thermostat, no electric blanket, no spare blanket. It was a cold night and I froze. The room was small and a bit musty, was affected by constant outside machine noise (probably refrigeration), and it looked out through dirty windows onto the rear, industrial end of the hotel. Not a pleasant experience.
“Smallest Bathroom ever”
stayed in two different rooms both were small . The bathrooms in both were identical and was similar to a toilet in a plane for size. Position of hotel was good and staff were quite helpful and pleasant but would not stay there again because of size of room and toilet particularly .
“DO NOT STAY HERE!”
DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL. our room was tiny and dirty-we let this go as it was cheap but then come 11pm we realised that our room backed onto a nightclub that was open til 5 am so no sleep for us! I tried to complain, they advised that I had to go through an email process rather than listen to me at the time-this was a few weeks ago and I have re contacted but they still will not send me the form to complete. I booked this hotel as I trusted the Mercure brand-NEVER AGAIN!
“could not wait to leave”
Hotel was not good . Room too small The place is run down and it smelied. The carpet past its day. Looks good when you go in all clean but that is it . go up the lift and the doors open smell . there are a lot of fooms on each floor. please DONOT BOOK THIS HOTEL ALL NEW ZEALANDER. I can put up with a lot but this hotel was just about too much. There was other new zealanders there and they all said the same. One couple moved three times to find a room not run down . I just put up with it .
