Recently renovated? Wow... Posted 27-Apr-2014
The overview of this hotel states that a "total renovation" of this property was completed in December 2013. It must have been in shambles before, because there is still MUCH room for improvement. This is supposedly a smoke-free property. There are little "no smoking" signs on the door to every room, but the hallway still smelled of cigarette smoke. I'd think carpets would be replaced in a "total renovation" so that smell would be gone. I booked a room with two queens and a sofa bed. There were no sheets or pillows for the sofa bed, and we had to go to the front desk and wait for the manager to find some. There were no comforters on the beds- just a top sheet, a thin blanket, and another top sheet. There was a decorative quilted strip on each that looked like a table runner. Cute, but not for comfort. There were two TV's, but they were controlled by the same remote and both had to stay on the same channel. The bathroom was tiny, cramped, and gross. It smelled like urine. The tub & toilet were just inches apart. The soap and shampoo were the cheapest imaginable. The breakfast was just ok. They had a few different cereals, mini donuts, scrambled eggs, and a waffle maker (which several other guests were in line to use, so we had to wait quite a while for our turn). Some fresh fruit would have been nice, but I didn't see any. Based on its description, I was hoping this hotel would be comparable to a Holiday Inn Express or Comfort Inn. Not even close.
