Oak Plaza hotel has a policy that guests must leave their room key with the front desk whenever stepping out of the premises. I found this highly unusual and asked why this was the case. In response to this, the hotel staff stated that this policy was in place to avoid anyone else being able to access my room if they got a hold of my keys. I found this response even more bizarre as the hotel has security systems in place that would make it impossible for unauthorized room access to occur.
I complied with the request.Within days of my stay, I discovered money was missing from my wallet which I left in the room. I reported this incident to the hotel staff, who requested that I escalate the issue to the Security Manager. To date there has been no follow-up.
I feel very disturbed that this theft occurred in my room during my stay at this hotel. I am also greatly disappointed that this issue was not addressed.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
The web page for the hotel on Expedia is misleading at best, fraudulent at worst.
The hotel has:
No working restaurant
No working bar
No working elevators
No functioning internet access
No free airport shuttle
No in-room safe
No recreation facilities (pool or gym)
No coffe/tea making facilities
No alarm clock
No trouser press
No selectable satellite/cable channels, only local and Al Jazeera
No choice of breakfast (bread, omelette & orange juice most days)
In short apart from the relatively comfortable bed, in-room air conditioning and filthy fridge, this hotel lacks anything that it shows on the web page. Travel to the airport is closer to 45 minutes than ten, and "easy access to the city centre" is about 40 minutes using a mix of dirt roads and crowded highway.

the hotel is located in a quiet neighborhood. There was no noise from vehicular traffic. excellent service. we had a plumbing leak in the bathroom. the hotel maintenance tried quite hard to fix. it was fixed after the second try. pleasant environment for those who do not care for the hustle of the city. the mall is less than 10minute drive
We returned to this hotel at the end of our stay in Accra as we celebrated our wedding here 5 years ago. The hotel has undergone significant development and upgrade since then and we were very pleased with our stay. The room was large, well decorated and clean. The new swimming pool, conference centre and upgraded gym facilities have enhanced the hotel. The wifi connection around the hotel was good and we really enjoyed the food and cocktails. The beach access at this hotel is also an added bonus. The only downside for me is that the communal areas are often quite warm, the air conditioning in the rooms is fantastic though. Overall a very good stay and we will be returning in the future!
