“Ballater is a wonderful location on Royal Deeside”
We love going to the Craigendarroch Hilton on Royal Deeside. The hotel is very comfortable and staff very friendly. Food was excellent.
“Highs and Lows”
Very nice hotel except a little worn. During our visit lift was not working and had to carry luggage over stairs without help. Also dislike very much separate $10 charge for wifi. Other than that, thumbs up.
“relazing break”
first visit to the Craigendarroch, and would highly recommend, ok so the room decor is a bit tired, however neat clean and tidy, facilites were excellent, food was superb. just what the doctor ordered a very relaxing and enjoyable time, will definitely be back. staff very helpful and polite.
“Hotel Relaxation”
As soon as we walked through front door was made so welcome Hotel had everything you could ever want for relaxing weekend,Rooms were first class restaurant, bar leisure facilities second to none and at a very affordable price, Will be back for many more weekends.
“Overall Very Good”
This hotel is generally very good the service and amenities are very good. If i had a gripe it would be with the bathroom as it is a bit dated and in need of an uplift in particular the shower as their is little more than a trickle from the shower head but to be fair this could just be a problem with this room 53. The food is excellent and their is something on the menu that everyone could find to enjoy Overall well worth the money.
“Ok but in need of an upgrade”
We have stayed at the Craigendarroch hotel several times over a number of years, the reason we stay there is the lovely scenery and the fine dining at the Oaks restaurant. However there is several areas of the hotel that would benefit from some much needed maintenance, the main entrance is a good example of where money has not been spent. We have stayed in different rooms over the years and without exception they were all a bit jaded. If it was not for the surrounding scenery then I doubt we would return.
“Snowy break”
Hotel well located with reasonable facilites but does need a face lift as very dated. Wonderful scenery in the snow.
“Disappointing”
Despite being told at check-in that we had been upgraded, the room highly needed renovating. I'm sure it looked good in the 80's but it does not anymore. The bathroom was the worst, not dirty but looked terribly old. We have not being very impressed by the breakfast either. We expected a brittish breafast made to order and not on a buffet where the meat and the eggs were cold. All this is really a shame because the setting is great and Royal Deeside is great to visit.
“Not impressed”
This is our 7th or 8th time at Craigendarroch and sadly each time we go, it goes down hill and we always say we won't be back. Dinner was OK but items advertised on the website for Dinner Menu are not on the actual menu. Breakfast was shocking, my mother was dealt an omelette that apart from not resembling one to look at, tasted a grizzly cheesy mess. Even the staff were embarassed serving it up I think. On check-out my father was charged at Reception for the next room's account instead of his own. Check-in advertised as 3pm when we got there , we were told 4pm, although 1 of our rooms was ready, the other wasn't and we were promised a phone call to tell us when it was ready, this never happened. The hotel needs a good "seeing" to by someone. Bar staff were very pleasant and good at their job, but other than them, very poor service elsewhere.
“great relaxing break”
we chose Hilton Craigendarroch for a relaxing break during school half term. The hotel lived up to our expectations. Th meal prices have been reduced since we last visited and provide good value for money. Service was a bit slow, but the enthusiasm of the staff made up for it. We only had a couple fo complaints. The pool and pool area was cooler than we would have liked and the changing room floors could have done with being cleaned more often. Also, the hotel part is getting on in years and our floors were very creaky and the doors banged -so we did get wakened up by our neighbours. Otherwise - would definitely recommend this hotel for a relaxing break
