Traumhotel im Umland von Aberdeen

Posted 24-Apr-2015
Genial !!!

Not bad...needs a bit of TLC

Posted 26-Mar-2015
Pros: Old character
Cons: Beds need replacement Spa needs refurbishment
Location: Go to Stonehaven for local pub sea food grub. Old harbor town. 30 pounds by taxi.
Beautiful grounds. Room was a little tired, but in character with the old building. Corner room with high ceilings, beautiful. Bed a nightmare. Dip in middle, squeaky....needs replacing. Breakfast buffet not bad...little limited. Bar is nice with some character. Limited food menu. Staff friendly, but not that outgoing. Room service was good. Spa very tired, needs some updating.

Scottish hospitality

Posted 26-Mar-2015
Pros: No negatives at all
Location: The house is set in the country with expansive grounds, easy access from the city of Aberdeen, close enough to drive to the sights of Deeside.
The hotel was exactly as expected...traditional scottish stately home set in beautiful grounds...log fires burning every evening, the staff was attentive and polite, food was excellent, service was on point at all times...easy access to the city of Aberdeen. Would highly recommend this hotel

Historic mansion on beautiful estate.

Posted 23-Mar-2015
Pros: Main mansion area. Rooms, food, fireplaces, grounds.
Cons: Better pricing options for breakfast. Maybe three or more.
Location: Location is very rural, but only a few miles from several quaint villages, and Aberdeen is only 20-30 minutes away. Union Street shops and museums.
Beautiful setting on hill overlooking River Dee. Grounds amazing. Main mansion area kept very historic with blazing fireplaces in all main reception areas and bar. This was much appreciated as the weather in March is somewhat chilly and damp. Spa, gym, and pool areas were first class. Food was excellent and prices definitely reflected this. Prepaid breakfast was fairly expensive in my opinion, but the quality and variety was absolutely top notch to compensate.

Wedding stay

Posted 08-Mar-2015
Pros: Staff were very friendly and helpful and it has a lovely reception area.
were a reasonable size, with space for a small table and 2 comfy chairs. The furniture is adequate if a bit dated but then it goes with the character of the hotel. It had a good sized bathroom, with a bath and a very good separate shower. The only downside was the mattress which could have been more comfortable. The breakfast was first class with a great choice to pick from and very tasty. The staff were very polite and helpful, especially when we looked lost trying to find our way back to our rooms which seemed miles from the reception. The main reception area is very characterful, lots of wood panelling and log fires. Nice experience if a bit pricey, especially the drinks.

Welcoming Historic 18th Century Hotel

Posted 07-Jan-2015
Pros: We really liked the staff!! They were all really wonderful. We also loved the quiet location, & the breakfast choices were fantastic!!
Cons: The food choices. The breakfast menu is fabulous, but the lunch & dinner choices were very limited & we got tired of the same few options.
Location: Not much around the hotel, but easy enough to get a taxi to take you wherever you want to go. It's only 15 mins. from the shops & town of Aberdeen.
We enjoyed our stay at the Ardoe House. The staff were very welcoming, friendly, happy and helpful. They arranged cabs for us to take us wherever we wanted to go, so it was nice having that service provided for us. The hotel was a castle actually, and had so much character and was a very unique experience. We would definitely recommend this hotel and would definitely stay at it again, should we ever return to Aberdeen.

Night away from it all.

The staff were nice and helpful. It would appear that a refit is ongoing as some of the hotel looked very nice and other parts not quite so. The bathroom in our room was very dated and could be improved. The spa and pool definitely need upgraded.

Disappointing, gone downhill

Posted 31-Dec-2014
It is maybe unfair to compare this hotel to the luxury it was ten years ago. However, the room and communal areas were very cold unless you were directly in front of the log fires. Despite being an old building I can't accept that for an excuse of how cold they were, it's not like cold weather in Scotland is a new problem! The bathroom could have done with at least a heated towel rail and the room a radiator that heated beyond luke warm. The decor is standard Mecure decor squeezed in to an old building rather than individual decor inline with the old building. The restaurant was fully booked which was disappointing, so we ate in the bar. Unfortunately, my husbands steak was supposed to be medium but was well-done, again, disappointing for the cost. The bar didn't have any snacks/crisps/nibbles for sale, which seemed strange for a 4* hotel and was commented on by other guests too. on the plus side, the staff were pleasant, the starters in the bar were nice and the breakfast was ok. But, for a one night getaway, I'd give at a miss (especially if you've ever been to Ardoe when it was at its prime),

Stayed for 1 night after a Christmas Function

Posted 22-Dec-2014
Pros: Room was very clean and Breakfast was very good.
Cons: The only small negative of our short stay was that the room & bathroom were freezing when we checked in and took a while to heat up.
Staff very friendly, from checking in at Reception to Breakfast the next day Staff were professional and helpful
