“Would stay here again!”
I have given this 4 out of 5 for 2 reasons: 1. The fitness room & jacuzzis were one of the reasons I chose the hotel as I was in Aarhus on business rather than a holiday with lots of free time but they were out of order for my entire stay. I was offered a free pass to another gym but this wasn't until my last evening in Aarhus. 2. I had a top floor attic room which was very light and spacious, but one of the blinds did not shut properly and so I was woken at sunrise each morning! On the positive side, the hotel is in an excellent location - right in the city centre near all the shops! The staff are also extremely friendly and very helpful. The hotel was spotlessly clean and my room was very spacious.
“comfort excellent, service very poor”
Checked in to the hotel at 2230. Ordered a wake up call for 0500 with the intention of checking out at 0530. Was informed that this was too early for breakfast and that i could not have "a packed breakfast" as the chef had gone home. I would like to make the following points. 1. I phoned the hotel at 2000 to advise of my late check in and early check out and was not offered the opportunity to order a packed breakfast. 2.I did not receive wake up call. 3.The staff wanted to charge me for a cup of coffee from the self service machine. It was only when I pointed out that I did not get breakfast I had already paid for that the staff reluctantly agreed not to charge me.
“Desperately seeking refurbishment”
Has the potential to be a really good hotel, but it's so shabby! The rooms and connecting corridors haven't been touched for decades and there is a slight musty smell wherever you go. The corridor carpets are approaching 'health hazard' status and the walls bear the scars from years of luggage battery. My twin room was quiet and clean and a reasonable size. However, the entire bathroom was located in the shower cubicle, consequently, water everywhere The staff were helpful and friendly and check-in/out was quick and fuss free. The entrance lobby is quite welcoming but the décor and fixtures are tired, the same applies to the bar. The buffet breakfast was good and no problem finding a table. The hotel is located two minutes walk from the train station and the airport (Aarhus) bus stop is just round the corner. The old town and ‘canal area’ are 10mins brisk walk away. The Scandic Plaza could be a good hotel but requires major refurbishment to bring it up to an acceptable standard. It’s also quite expensive!
