“Best in Town”

The Helnan is the best quality and consistency hotel in Aarhus. After a mix and match of options in the city centre, where room condition is an over priced gamble, the Helnan offers ample sized rooms, all overlooking the bay (for a sunny sunrise), actually has a gym that is nice to use. Pool is a little small, if you are an olympic athlete, but for refreshing oneself, it is adequate. The location is 3km away from the city centre, with eating options limited around. But this is the park-sand location that the queen choses to stay near. Plenty of park and woodland and a small calm beach. Overall it is comfortable, clean and consistent. In my opinion the best in town, where you know what you are getting.

“A Room with a Vew”

The hotel was built in the 60's after controversy regarding planning permission, its not the nicest looking hotel you will stay at but wait to you get to your room!. Reception staff very helpful with the booking, disappointment there were no porters to help with luggage, apparently they don't have them in the hotel. Room was clean and a fantastic view over Arhus Bay with the lovely sound of the waves. Dinner was expensive and average, room service was very prompt when we ordered a snack. The wellbeing centre was not very good and the gym equipment was in a corridor, the changing rooms were scruffy, the sauna not working and the pool was really tiny. Location is a bit out of town so unless you want to drive there is no where else nearby to eat as an alternative. Having said that the view and location were terrific and would go back

“This is NOT a spa hotel!!!!”

We booked this trip on the basis that we would be going to a 4* spa hotel. This hotel certainly is not a spa hotel, and I would personally rate it to 3*. The 'swimming pool' was freezing cold and the staff were in no rush to try and fix it the week we were there. The pool/gym area was in general poorly maintained and the sauna was not working at all. Although a spa treatment existed, it was empty and no treatments were available. the rooms were OK, and it was nice to overlook the sea. free wifi was nice, but I was actually trying to escape the outside world, so this was not used. The beach was also nice when it was not raining. However, there was a complete lack of any soap products in the room, which I would normally expect in a 4* hotel. Basically, this hotel is good for overnight stay's in Arhus, but not worth the price for any prolonged period
