“Wonderful Christmas Markets Break Location”

We arrived at the hotel at 2am with two young children. Parking was closed so we drive to the main reception and the young man could not have been more helpful. We unloaded the car and the children and everything was ready in minutes so we all got to sleep quickly - because they had also made up the sofa bed so we didn't have to. Breakfast was fantastic. A really great selection of hot and cold items. Wonderful range of juices and efficient service. The children eat free and this makes it very good value. My girls eat a lot! The room was large enough for a family and there were the right amount of towels so we didn't have to ask for extra. There was a separate shower so no annoying shower curtains to content with. We paid to park each day and were given a pass to come in and out as we chose to. The staff were all very very friendly. It's a 10 minute walk to the main town square and shopping and very easy to find off the main motorways. I will stay here again next year when we visit Aachen Xmas markets.

Area recommendations

Xmas markets - much less crowded than Cologne. Lovely atmosphere. Cologne is 45 minutes away so an easy day trip

“Get instructions in advance on how to get into parking garage”

The hotel is a short walk to the city centre. The room was clean and well-designed and we enjoyed the buffet breakfast. I would have liked instructions in advance on how to get into the parking garage because it is not at all obvious.

anywhere close to the Dom which is in the old part of the city with a lot of good restaurants and shops

Getting around

We went on a guided walking tour of the city (1 1/2 hours, tickets from the tourist office - advance booking not necessary) which was really interesting and gave us a good idea of where we wanted to go to eat and shop

“Excellent in all respects - and so quiet!”

We stayed in Aachen for two nights and the Novotel proved to be an excellent choice. Its quite close to the city centre (old city, cathedral etc) so was a very good location. The hotel is modern, clean and comfortable. I was particularly impressed with how quiet it was, despite being in a room at the front overlooking the main road. The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was excellent with long service hours as well. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone going to Aachen.

Traveller's tip

Even if you don't normally visit churches you really MUST see Aachen cathedral. It's wonderful!

“Sehr schönes und modernes Hotel”

Unser Aufenthalt im Novotel Aachen City war sehr schön. Das Zimmer war groß, modern und schön eingerichtet. Wir haben im Restaurant des Hotels zu Abend gegessen und gefrühstückt, wovon wir beides sehr gut fanden. Der Service war immer höflich und zuvorkommend. Die Lage ist sehr Stadtnah, allerdings liegt gegenüber ein großer Busbahnhof und es gibt viele Spielclubs in der Gegend. Wir können das Hotel auf jeden Fall weiter empfehlen und würden es auch selbst sofort wieder buchen!

“Das Hotel liegt 10 Minuten von Kern entfernt.”

Hotel gute Lage, Zimmer super, alles gut geklappt, auch mit dem Hund.

Schöne Geschäft, gut zum shoppen. Auch einige besichtigungen, die wir durchgeführt haben, Stadtführung in der Altstadt, Domführung, Rathausführung, 2 Stunden mit dem Bus Umgebung gefahren.

“Zentrales Hotel mit gutem Preis/Leistungsverhältnis”

Der Empfang war freundlich, das Zimmer sauber und gut ausgestattet - inkl. Bad mit WC/Dusche/Badewanne, TV, Internetanschluss, Zimmersafe und Minibar. Einzig die Tatsache, dass die separate Toilette kein eigenes Waschbecken hatte fand ich etwas ungünstig. Außerdem haben die meisten Hotels mit 4 Sternen aufwärts inzwischen einen Flatscreen-Fernseher, aber die gute alte Röhre tut es ja auch noch, das ist also kein wirklicher Grund zur Beanstandung. Das Hotel liegt recht zentral (in 5-10 Minuten ist man zu Fuß im Zentrum), man kann also alle Sehenswürdigkeiten gut erreichen. Wir hatten das Frühstück nicht mitgebucht, allerdings gibt es in der näheren Umgebung auch genügend Auswahl, falls man sich das Frühstück also nicht aufs Zimmer bringen lassen möchte, bekommt man mit Sicherheit woanders für weniger Geld auch alles, was das Herz begehrt.
