Excellent location, near beautiful small streets packed with galleries and exquisite shops. Lots of good places to eat and drink within 5 min walk. Hire a bike at the train station, and enjoy cycling in this city which gives priority to cyclists! We even cycled to the beach - 40 minutes away, and I am NOT a cyclist. The executive lounge package at the hotel is worth investing in, as you can have breakfast, snacks, coffees and drinks included.
We didn't quite know what to expect. The nice surprise was how lovely it was not to stay in a modern, super sterile place. Check in was super efficient with lovely staff. Our room was fabulous, own staircase to a massive room and bathroom. Second night we came back from a family brunch and decided to stay in the hotel for dinner. As it was a Sunday, dinner was limited but it was excellent! Really loved this hotel.
We stayed in the Beach Hotel so we had a balcony which is connected to the main hotel via a corridor with various restaurants and bars in between. It felt like walking through a floor on a lavish cruise ship especially when you can see the sea out the windows! The hotel breakfast was very expensive (approx €80 for 3 adults) but great value for money if you fancied starting the day to several glasses of champagne which are included in the charge! We had to pay €3 each to use the swimming pool but the wave machine was well worth it. Overall we had a great stay, the staff were all extremely friendly and helpful and we would definitely recommend this hotel.
We stayed for three nights in October 2014. This was our second stay there. The hotel is located right on the beach. I recommend reserving an ocean view room because these rooms are truly what they say they are: you will have a full, 180 degree, sea view. We had the windows open and listened to the waves at night. The beach is very wide and never crowded. One of the hotel's two restaurants (Breakers) is on the beach and feels like a modern beach house, with pale white wooden floors and a fire place. Food is excellent and so is the service. They have a breakfast buffet in the hotel, which is features the typical Dutch "stuff" like "hagelslag" (chocolate grains), poffertjes (mini pancakes) and Dutch cheeses. Fitness center is tiny but who needs it with a beach that provides miles and miles of walking/jogging routes. Indoor pool is nice, so is sauna and steam room. The rooms could benefit from some updating, but for us it was all about the view.

My son talked me into booking this small hotel on my first visit to Leiden. I had wanted to rent an apartment on the canal for the week. Let me just say he chose well. From the moment you walk down the cobblestone path to the front entrance you are enchanted by the architecture and lush gardens. Mind you I had just left Monkey Island and Oxford. Upon entering the staff greeted me instantly in English and I felt welcomed and eager to see the rest of the charming hotel. The gardens were simply amazing in August. Hydrangeas filled the beds and I couldn't wait to sit with a cup of tea or a glass of wine and take it all in. I lucked out with unusually warm weather during my visit. The rooms are filled with comfortable beds with cozy down comforters, Bose TV systems, and complimentary bottled water. A Jura espresso machine allows in room morning coffee, which I enjoyed daily. My bathroom was modern and also had a tv and soaking tub. More importantly, it had a magnifying mirror to apply make-up! Why don't more hotels don't provide this for women? I extended my stay for 3 additional nights. The staff graciously stored my luggage while I spent a night in The Hague. When I returned, my luggage had already been placed in my room. Ok I love this place-but I must go home in a few days. Can't wait to return next year. Ask for the upstairs room overlooking the gardens. Great breakfast. Wonderful dinner. Excellent staff!
