Great location for exploring Taormina and for excursions as the bus terminal is not far. Not close to the beach if that is what you want but you can take cable car to beach or hotel offers shuttle service to beaches further away at a cost. Clean modern room and has a pool area too. No restaurant for evening food but breakfast is good.
We paid top dollar for 2 suites on a half hoard basis. The rooms were dimly lit, the furniture ancient, the beds uncomfortable and the food simply disgusting. Each Suite had private swimming pools, which were unheated, as was the main hotel swimming pool. This might work in mid-summer, but in October/November, the water in the pools were unbearably cold and therefore pointless. Even though we had paid in advance for the entire stay (Over £5000 for 4 nights!), we decided to write-off the whole amount and save our holiday. We checked into the Hotel Timeo, which was simply divine and, incredibly, less expensive than this dump - and the pool was heated!

I honestly can't say enough about this hotel. It brings the idea of luxury to a whole other level! First of all, it is so pretty inside! Our room was more than amazing. We had a view of the water that was absolutely breath taking. We ate breakfast on our balcony every morning. I know this is random, but our room had a doorbell, fresh flowers everyday, and room service to die for. Our honeymoon at this hotel could not have been better!
The staff is also excellent. Our airline lost our luggage, but with the help of the front desk staff, our luggage was returned the next day...whereas the airline initially told us it would take two days. The staff was so attentive that it seemed like we were the only guests there.
The price of this hotel may be a little expensive, but it is definitely worth it. Perks such as a boat tour up the coast, rides into the main part of the city, and everything else just makes this hotel great. We'll definitely be returning!

We got an upgrade to a sea view room. The room is clean and has a complete amenities. The view of the sea and the view of Mt. Etna are incredible.
The only problem of the sea view room is that the rooms face to the bar. When they have live music night, they play music till 1-2am in the morning. Even we closed the window, we still can clearly hear the music.
El Jebel is conveniently settled off a bustling walkway through Taormina, with great access to restaurants and boutique style shops. It is a small hotel, well styled and the staff can't do enough for you. The rooftop terrace is great for a meal and some drinks, but not the cheapest. My only issue was that our room had an ajoining door to connect to another room, which meant we could hear *everything* in the next room. This was the only downside to an otherwise superb hotel experience.
Most of the guests were couples and I think this hotel would be limited for families, with no pool area.

We stayed 8 nights at this lovely 5* hotel, a really relaxing visit. One area which does require attention is the restaurant, dinner menu unchanged for every meal. Counter balanced by many good restaurants in the town particularly CINQUE ARCHI and al Giardino.
