John and Christine made us very welcome for our two night stay in their lovely home. The room was spacious and spotless with excellent views over Dartmouth. It was tastefully decorated; the bed was very large and comfortable; luxury toiletries and a hairdryer were provided; good quality tea and coffee, fresh milk and filtered water; a digital radio as well as TV; lots of wardrobe space and comfortable armchairs. Breakfast showed the same attention to detail as did the high standard of the room. Freshly cooked with local produce it also included fresh juice, fresh fruit salad, yogurt, dates and cereal. Our hosts couldn't have been more helpful even providing a newspaper in case we wanted one. A decanter of sherry was available in the tastefully decorated lounge/dining area if an aperitif was required!

I booked the Elmdene after reading reviews online and am happy to say it met my high expectations. It was just like stating in a 4 star hotel but with the added bonus of personal service from a family run business. The rooms were wonderful and the breakfast cooked to order by Carol was amazing.
If you want peace and quiet, a good location, fantastic personal service, decent parking and the perfect stay - choose the Elmdene. Thank you.

My wife and I booked a junior suite here for a couple of nights and were very impressed. My occupation means that I stay in a lot of hotels of all standards around the UK, most of which do not deserve the star rating they get - especially the 4 and 5 star ones. The attention to detail was the best my wife and I have ever seen in a hotel of any star rating. It is very tastefully decorated and furnished, the bed was very comfortable (memory foam) and the whole place was absolutely spotless. There were some very thoughtful touches like free fresh fruit and various cakes in the corridor together with a fridge with small jugs of fresh milk for tea/coffee. For a very reasonable 9 quid there was a full or light English breakfast on offer as well as a huge variety of fruit and cereals - I couldn't think of any obvious additions which could be made. The hosts Adam & Grant made us feel very welcome and seemed genuinely nice people, not forgetting their 2 lovely Dachshunds Hector & Oscar who were allowed to trot around the ground floor after the breakfast session had finished. One of the best things we found in our room was the most comprehensive guide to the hotel, surrounding area and pubs and restaurants we have ever seen - anywhere. It even included some amusing negative reviews of some eating places; it was beautifully thought out and presented and was typical of the care and attention to detail we experienced during our stay. Thanks chaps - we'll definitely be back!!

Wildercombe House is located in pleasant surroundings at the base of a nature reserve on the outskirts of Ilfracombe on a bus route into the town. The staff were very pleasant and the breakfasts are to be recommended.

Fantastic hotel, in a perfect location, 5-10 mins away from the beach, and restaurants.
The owners of the hotel greeted us with a warm and friendly service, we were given tea and coffee, whilst they gave us information about the hotel and its attractions, we were even presented with a list of the best restaurant to visit.
Breakfast were delicious nothing was too much to ask for. Hotel very clean and well presented.

I was visiting the area for a wedding and really enjoyed my stay. The hotel as a whole is stylishly decorated and has a great intimate feel to it. My room was really lovely and was comfortable, very clean and had everything I needed. The staff were so friendly and service at breakfast was second to none. The breakfast I had both days was very nice. Thank you for a lovely stay
