"New, stylish, cosy, good location, excellent staff"
After a long 21hr journey we got to the hotel a few hours before check in time. Seeing that we were tired the hotel staff offered complimentary breakfast while they prepared our room. The hotel was very clean, modern and cosy. The staff were all very helpful, from housekeeping to catering; even the management: Philippe, Mr Peter and Jose, were accessible daily at most hours.
We were travelling with our 16 month daughter who had the flu (from London) and were worried about distinguishing between flu and malaria. The hotel did everything possible to reassure us and facilitate our comfort, for example, the catering (head chef, Fracios, and others) staff made fresh porridge for our daughter and when she'd finished eating they'd play with her so that we can finish our breakfast.
We had a 10 hour wait at Dar es salaam on the return journey, the management organised a stop over at the Double Tree at Dar es Salaam so that we can relax and freshen up before our flight.
All in all, a fantastic, new, stylish well located hotel with excellent, considerate management and staff.
I would like to recommend the Africa House in Stone Town, Zanzibar. I frequently travel to Zanzibar and have been staying at a different hotel each trip. I'll likely return to the Africa House as the experience was very pleasant.
Great staff and location at the hotel.
Very nice hotel right next to the beach. The rooms were clean and comfortable with very efficient air conditioning and lots of bottles of free water provided. The staff were very friendly and seemed intent on being as helpful as possible. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and have no complaints.
Location on the East side of the island means about an hour drive from the airport. The "road" to the hotel is rustic, but the drivers seem to know how to manage the unpaved "African massage roads" as they tell us they're called. The east island is much less developed than the west side, populated with small villages. This side of the island is surrounded by huge coral reefs & turquoise waters. Definitely take the local beach entrepreneurs up on their deals for swimming with dolphins, snorkeling, diving, etc. The individual bungalows are spacious with a lovely terrace complete with a rope hammock/swing. Every bungalow faces the Indian Ocean, and we were greeted by the sunrise over the sea every morning. A great place to unplug, relax, and get away from the world for awhile.
Situated on the South East coast of the Island of Zanzibar, in a privileged quiet position, Kichanga Lodge faces a stunningly …More
