Hotel was exactly what we expected when we booked. It was modern and clean and we had no complaints about the room. The bed was comfortable and finished to a good standard. The paint in the bathroom around the door frame was a bit shabby but that did not affect our stay! The staff were all happy to help when we had questions.
The hotel location is excellent- short walk from the port and all the bars and restaurants in one direction and the beach in the other.

I had a great experience at this hotel. It is in a perfect location, and the staff is very accommodating and willing to give directions or suggestions. I had a great experience here and definitely recommend it
We stayed for 7 nights at Novotel Vieux Port. We travelled with our young daughter and next time, we will get the bus from the Metro station as it is a stiff uphill walk in 30C heat for a 7 year old! The hotel adjoins the Sofitel and appears to share its pool with the Sofitel. Turning left out of the hotel, you walk alongside a fairly busy main road and cross a busy junction before getting to the old harbour. Turn right and you can walk to the nearby Catalans Beach. This area has lots of local shops and a couple of supermarkets where you can stock up on wine, water and snacks.
We only had dinner in the hotel once but the breakfast buffet was unlimited and you can certainly fill up before you start your day!
For what we paid, this hotel represents good value and is in a good location from which to explore Marseille. There is a bus stop across the road which has frequent services into the city centre, Vieux Port metro station and the Gare St Charles train station. Public transport here was affordable and frequent.
