Barcelonas weekend seaside retreat, trendy Sitges was originally colonised by artists and intellectuals and is now a very popular gay destination. It may be the Costa Doradas most sophisticated resort but it has maintained its local identity and the Old Town has considerable charm. Sitges also boasts lovely sandy beaches, very good restaurants, a vibrant nightlife and chic boutiques. Visit in February for the riotous Sitges Carnival.
