The name Seekonk comes from the native Wampanoag words for black goose, and black Canadian geese can still be seen here today. Serving primarily as a residential suburb of Providence and the Boston area, the town of Seekonk is on the Massachusetts side of that states border with Rhode Island. The town is known for its retail corridor along Route 6 and its NASCAR speedway.
