The hotel was really superb while I stayed there. I was very well welcomed, the room are very clean and comfortable. I would recommend anyone to stay in this hotel while visiting Santiago de Compostela ;-). Julie

Food was a little expensive, and the kitchen is not 24 x 7, but otherwise all facilities were very good and it was in a handy location. Staff were excellent, and it is an easy trip to the airport by car.

The location of the hotel is a few miles out of the historical town, but since we were driving, that was not an issue for us. The hotel is nice and clean. The rooms are spacious and well kept with very friendly personnel. Those elements are found in many other good hotels, but what puts Puerta del Camino in a completely different league is the cuisine.
We stayed there only two nights and we made the right decision to have dinner there the first night. We couldn't wait to go back for the second day to repeat the experience. My wife rated the second dinner she had there as one of the "best meals in my life". The service at the restaurant is just as good as the food they prepare and the prices are more than reasonable for the quality they serve. I have already recommended this place to my close friends and we are definitely going back there the next time we are in Santiago de Compostela.
We arrived at 10.30 am but thankfully our room was ready and we were checked in quickly. The staff on reception were extremely friendly and helped us get our bearings, showing us all we needed to see on the map and advising us what to do first. My partner speaks fluent Spanish so communication was no problem, but their English was excellent and I'm sure they spoke many other languages too!
As the hotel is on a corner at a junction of roads, it was noisy with the window open, as other people have said, but we didn't find it a problem - the beds were so comfortable and we were exhausted after our sightseeing. Breakfast was functional but compared with some hotels where we've stayed, it actually rated well for a Spanish 4 star.
The convenient location, just on the edge of the old town, meant we were able to pop back to the room easily if we needed to.
We plan to walk the last part of the camino next year and wouldn't hesitate to stay at this hotel again at the end.
