We stayed 6 nights to tour around Calabria. This hotel is very clean, reasonably priced and close to the rail and bus stations for travel; also close to the town centre and seafront. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and spoke English. The breakfast is cold buffet style, nicely presented with a fair range of choices, including fresh orange!
We would return for another stay there and recommend the hotel to anyone wanting to tour Calabria by public transport.

The hotel was just like the pictures! They had a great restaurant with excellent service and plenty of food. The Prosciutto on our appetizer plate was excellent! Salad was huge! Bread was fresh and lemon veal was wonderfully tender (though a little sour for my husbands tastes). My chicken very good, also. We had 1 appetizer, 2 salads, 2 entrees, 1 small bottle white wine and 2 mixed beverage for only E52. I didn't think that was too bad!
Our room was very large and clean, though the shower was kind of small. Plenty of clean towels and linens. The bed was comfortable. It was nicely decorated. The air conditioner worked well and was quiet. We had free wifi.
We needed a charger for our phone, and the lady at the desk let us borrow one. Luckily it worked, since they are on 220v and our phone was 110v.

"Convenient for an early ferry departure to Sicily."
We stayed at Hotel President only as a stopover after a flight from Venice, then drive from Naples on our way to Sicily. The hotel is just a few minutes from the ferry to Messina, and was very reasonable priced. The breakfast was great, with fresh fruit, yoghurt, meat, cheese, pastries, etc. The room was ENORMOUS, and exactly like a throwback to 1980. It was actually quite funny after staying in many tiny, tiny rooms over our three week holiday. There was a lovely balconey with a distant view to the water, but nice to wake up and see the fishing boats heading out. Parking was very secure, inside locked gates.
After the warmth and friendliness of Sicily, the staff seemed cool, even disinterested. The hotel had parking readily available in the street, which was helpful, and was in a good location in walking distance to the promenade and the Corso Guiseppe Garibaldi. Easy walking to dinner. The advertisement made a great fuss about the spa bath in the room, but it didn't work. Otherwise clean and comfortable.

The staff went out of their way to accommodate us and spoke very good English. We were there on New Year's Eve and they had a big party going on. Everything looked very nice. The hotel itself is a bit worn around the edges. Not all the fancy gadgets in the bathroom worked, but the essentials did. The bed was very comfortable with nice bedding. The breakfast had a lot of delicious sweets..our favorites were the cannolies. The town was pretty much shut down. We never did find a restaurant. We stayed here because we were taking a morning ferry to Sicily.
