Pocket Guide: 4 Stars Hotels in Naples

Luxury Four-Star Accommodation in Naples

Naples offers an extensive range of four-star hotels located in some of the most convenient spots in town. Book well-equipped, stylishly outfitted rooms overlooking the Bay of Naples or stay in characterful centuries-old buildings in the city’s gorgeous UNESCO-listed historic core.

Alternatively, choose a four-star hotel just outside Naples in the seaside city of Pozzuoli, where you can visit ancient ruins and admire views out to the islands of Ischia and Procida.

Museum-Hopping in Naples

Naples overflows with art and culture. The first museum on your agenda should be the National Archaeological Museum of Naples, which houses ancient Roman and Greek artefacts including items unearthed from nearby Pompeii and Herculaneum.

Great Galleries and Famous Paintings

Also of note is the Capodimonte Museum, which is housed in a hilltop palace overlooking Naples. It is home to big-name masterpieces such as Caravaggio’s ‘Flagellation of Christ’. Another well-known work from Caravaggio, ‘The Seven Works of Mercy’, hangs at the church of Pio Monte della Misericordia.

For your fix of contemporary art, try the Palazzo delle Arti Napoli or the Museo d'Arte Contemporanea Donna Regina (MADRE), both of which host regular exhibitions.

Modern Art on the Metro

Another good, if surprising, place to see modern art is in the city’s underground ‘art stations’, which can be found on the metro lines 1 and 6. These stations feature contemporary works designed by well-regarded artists and architects. Among the standout pieces is the jaw-dropping escalator at the mosaic-adorned Toledo station.

Pre-Dinner Drinks on the Piazzo

There is little that is more quintessentially Italian than indulging in an al fresco aperitivo on one of Naples’ picturesque squares. Perhaps the best place in town to do this is in Piazza Trieste e Trento. The bar-bordered Piazza Bellini, near the Dante metro station, is another good spot for a pre-dinner drink. Establishments here draw a healthy mix of locals, students and tourists.

Make like the Italians do and order Campari spritz as an aperitif. After dinner, opt for limoncello, a strong lemon-flavoured spirit from the Sorrento region that is typically served chilled in a small glass.
