First of all, the position of the hotel.
We were of the opinion that it was walking distance from the town of Bowness on Windermere, but unfortunately, it wasn't. Nor were there any buses near the hotel.
Therefore, we had to always take the car, which was eight minutes from the town.
Then we had the problem of parking the car, and when we DID find a space, it was expensive.
We did not have an evening meal in the hotel, as we thought that the price per head was not within our budget, so we went into the town, and after 6.30pm, the car parks were free.
There were plenty of restaurants and pubs available to eat, and the prices were very reasonable, depending on what one ate.
The hotel surroundings were beautiful, but we could not sun bathe, as the weather was so bad. Our bedroom facilities were excellent, and the staff were very friendly, efficient, and they went out of their way to help.
Stayed for one night hotel and staff excellent, the only thing that spoiled the stay was a wedding at the venue, the wedding wasn't a problem it was the guests that decided to party in their room until 2am with loud singing and cheering,so not too much sleep.
Location of the hotel in the centre of Grasmere could not be better with many excellent walks from the hotel. Facilities and staff very good and the Dove bistro was our choice for our evening meals. Swimming pool was welcome.

The hotel's position is great, there's a fantastic view. However, it is quite old fashioned with the carpets and old furniture being quite dirty. My only other wish is that the wifi should be available to all the rooms, not just the lounge. The staff could also maybe be a bit more cheerful! An okay experience overall.

Lovely hotel. Great location. We stayed in a superior room. Quite spacious and very comfortable. Staff very friendly whilst remaining professional. Nothing was too much trouble. We eat in the bar and the restaurant, food was really good and plenty of choice. Breakfast was lovely.
We would definitely stay here again.
Breakfast was the highlight. I could not believe a hotel still has 14 inches CRT television in the room. No mini bar in the room. Plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. Wifi never worked for me. I booked 4 rooms for a family occasion and they upgraded 2 of them to balcony rooms and possibly downgraded one of our rooms.
