We travelled to LaPlagne, two adults and two children (7&8) because of the resort altitude, good snow record and easy transfer from Chambery airport (90 minutes). Hire car from Chambery was reasonable and allowed us extra freedon in resort, Would recommend having a car for La Plagne as each of the resort areas are apart. The resort is good if you are there to Ski. Not much atmosphere and certainly not picturesque. Snow was great and Aspen Prestige appartments were great. Nice people, spacious apartment with all facilities. Paid extra for cleaning service (70 Euros) but you can opt to do this yourself. Swimming pool is good and heated but changing rooms not ideal (take a bath robe and flip flops so you make a dash back to your room. Placed to eat limited but the ones we tried were good (The Grizzly and La Spatule). Expect lots of cheese and meat in the area. Snow and great weather made the trip and would recommend the Aspen to anyone.

Lovely apartment in excellent condition. The swimming pool was a great place to relax in together with the spa facilities après ski. This was our second visit, we felt it was even better than the first. We introduced some friends who stayed in the same chalet. They were also very pleased.
15 August 2009: I'm sure that it'll be great when it's finished BUT - After carrying all the food & luggage for 4 people up two floors of spiral stairs because the lifts weren't finished we found that the shower was a pathetic dribble. No Wifi. NO Hotel facilities - No Bar or Restaurant, unsurfaced approach road etc. etc. 1 Night was enough.
Much bigger apartment than we were expecting from reading previous reviews. It was clean and well maintained. Booked the apartment for 5-6 people, for 4 of us. Had 2 separate rooms and 2 bathrooms. Kitchen was very well equipped. The apartment was very well heated - too well - it was boiling hot overnight, even though the radiators weren't on! We knew reception closed at 8pm and were delayed on our transfer from the airport so we rang the hotel and it was no problem at all, they just opened our apartment and left the keys there for us. The pool was nice and the steam room very good. You get one free go in the steam room or sauna and then charge you 8 euros a session after that. We paid for one extra but found a lot of other people came in at the same time even though they hadn't booked so didn't pay for anymore sessions. Our key to the locker in the basement didn't work, so we kept our skis and boots on the balcony, and when we told the staff they told us it did work and that we must have tried the wrong door. We tried it again and it still didn't work so we just gave up. The lift was not working, which wasn't really a problem for us because we were on the first floor but for those on the second floor and people with children it would have been annoying, We spoke to a lady who was staying there and she said she came a year ago and it was broken then as well. The sign on the lift door says they are waiting to get it fixed, but this seems like they haven't bothered to.
