We only stayed here for one night, though after seeing it I wish we had been there for longer. The building is BEAUTIFUL, and our room (Mezzanine) was wonderful. As others have mentioned, this is the room without a bathroom door, though we didn't find it a problem as the room is spacious and there are nice sitting areas in the courtyard and on the terrace. The staff, Souky in particular, was extremely helpful in getting a driver set up for us and letting us use their printer for our next day's travels. Breakfast on the terrace was fantastic, and there's a nice view up there as well. I would definitely recommend it, and would stay here again if future travels take me to Fes.
Our stay was terrific. The riad was traditional Moroccan style and very beautiful. The staff and owner were very hospitable.
The meals were excellent! No need to go out to eat when you could get the best meals in Fez right at the riad. It was a true
dining experience. If we return to Fez we will certainly book at the Al Andalous.
We did really well with this booking. Beautiful, clean and great location. One of the main requirements was for a swimming pool and although when we arrived it looked a lot smaller than the photos it served its purpose. The Riad is about a 5 min walk from the souk and place r'cif and just 10-15 dirhams for a taxi to the 'new city'. Some of the staff were excellent but could have been more helpful with suggesting on places to see and recommending tours. Generally booking through the hotel is more expensive but we didn't find the usual tour touts so we had to go through the hotel.
We also got told at check-out that we needed to pay a city tax that was not mentioned on the booking nor when we arrived so add around 3 euros per person per night to your budget.

We only stayed in Fes for one night but after arriving at the Riad we immediately wished the stay was longer. FZ and the staff were terrific and really ensured that we had an authentic experience. The room was spacious, creative and well appointed and they provided us with refreshments in the lower gardens upon our arrival- which was right on time.
We had an idea for a restaurant but FZ convinced us otherwise and her dinner reservation was perfect. Fouad came to collect us and take us to his home/restaurant. Just a beautiful space and atmosphere with delicious Moroccan food- Restaurant Dar Hatim. His wife is the chef and incredibly gracious and charming.

A lovely experience. The Riad La Cle de Fes was a real Oasis. It had a family feel about it with friendly staff and was very comfortable indeed. The rooms were spacious and stylish. We felt welcomed and well looked after especially at the end of a long day traversing the medina and stimulating the Moroccan economy. It is quiet and very well located, in the Medina but with access by car so no struggling through the Medina fighting off offers to direct you in contradictory directions to secure a good price. Thanks to all the staff and Mohammed in particular for his singing and dancing as he served food. The cold remedy he gave us each night was most appreciated.
As seems to be the case with riads, we had a nice chat with the owner Rashid over tea upon our arrival. We had ordered a regular room and he upgraded us to a small suite with a window overlooking the central courtyard. The riad seemed to be relatively empty in April. It has a great location near the blue gate. We were able to park our car in a nearby garage for a few tens of dirhams. The hotel advertises free parking, but we got so lost driving into Fes at night that we had to be guided by a fellow on a motorycle, who handed us off to a tour guide, also named Rashid, who took us into the underground lot. Rashid the guide turned out to be very good, although we ended up going to a lot of shops, especially a carpet store and a leather store associated with the tannery. To be fair though, the carpet store and the tannery started with a tour, and the stuff on offer was very high quality, the tour was good and the people were fun and nice. Of course the asking price is always really high, and you have to negotiate. We always left with the feeling that we got a decent value, but that if we had bargained harder we could have gotten an even better deal. We spent a lot more money than we had planned. The reason I mention all this is that Rashid the riad owner may offer to get you a guide, etc. He also owns a tannery. You may be happy with his choice or not. We don't know, since we had contracted a guide before arriving at the riad.

There are no surprises, this is the standard Fes riad ... However, the Patron and his team are really helpful.
They are beginning to offer more than the standard bed and breakfast ... e.g. Lunches on request and eventually will start to do the tours also, so watch this space.
