I stayed at Breakas with my partner for 5 lovely nights which unfortunately came to an end but we left knowing that we'll definitely be back.
On arrival we were impressed to be greeted with a drink and locally made shell necklace before being shown to our beachfront Fare. We were in Fare 5 which was right next to the restaurant so had some trepidation that we may be kept awake by noisy diners but that wasn't a problem at all. As Breakas doesn't allow kids we found that everyone was there for the peace and solitude rather than for loud parties so didn't really hear a peep at all at night.
There are so many things to rave about that this will go on forever so here's just a few highlights - Sumptuous meals on the beach, cocktails by the pool, reading in the hammock, snorkelling on a coral reef on the doorstep, a 10 min cab ride to town (the taxi system is awesome and so cheap), a beautiful island with great sightseeing. What else can I say? It was perfect.
Also, the locals in Vanuatu have to be commended for being so friendly. Everyone we met, everywhere was so nice and friendly that we felt we knew everyone after only a few days.
I've already thanked my work colleague for recommending Breakas to me and now I'm passing on those recommendations to my friends too.

We found the Hotel staff were always friendly and helpful rooms were clean and had all facilities including nespresso machine which was always restocked, breakfast delivered to your rooms was great. Plunge pool was perfect after a day out touring and had complete afternoon shade with great views. Definitely recommended.
We stayed at Le Lagon for our 20th wedding anniversary and held a Renewal of Vows Ceremony on the beach at the resort. Our children rated the resort 11.5/10 and you couldn't wipe the smiles off their faces! We will definitely go back.
A very family friendly resort. The room has lovely views over Erakor island and to the mainland and was well set up for those wanting to self-cater. A barbecue and outside dining area overlooking the pool made for a couple of nice meals. The staff were friendly and helpful. The new cafe and bar opened the last day that we were there. This is a real addition to the resort and the dining options open to guests. Our kids lived in the pool. Travelling in to Vila couldn't have been easier. I don't think we ever waited for more than 2 minutes for a local 'bus' to appear and whisk us in or out of town for 150 vatu a head.
We stayed at Quest apartments for a nice relaxing 12 days. Alan, Maggie and the staff team all made us so welcome, providing us with a clean comfortable room, a generous daily breakfast, recommending activities and were a great source of local information. With their help we were able to settle in quickly and have the basics to get around, Good quality meals were available with theme night each evening. The staff always had a wide smile ready to greet you each morning, and nothing is too much trouble. The buses (minibuses) around Port Vila are inexpensive and frequent. Vanuatu people are gentle natured people and are at no time intrusive, as can be the case in many places. We can recommend the Cascades falls. Walk right to the top one, swim over to the waterfall and get a powerful tingling massage from the water! Also snorkelling at Hideaway Island. It's the best we found.
Whilst on the subject: If you head that way, take great care snorkelling off Breakas resort, in fact DO NOT go out to the reef at high tide. 2 of our party of 4 -both strong swimmers- were swept off the reef by dangerous offshore currents just as we got near the surf break and were VERY lucky to get back in. (If this happens swim parallel with the beach until you are out of the rip. Don't try to fight it as the water is stronger than you and you will quickly get fatigued) Beyond believe that beach isn't patriolled!
We will definitely be heading back to Quest Apartments. Warm thanks to you all :)
Very clean place, towels changed everyday, dishes left in sink were washed, even our clothes that were left out of our suitcase were folded and shoes were lined neatly!
The day time receptionist was very helpful with giving us info on tours and places to see and helped book the tours for us! She also gave great advice on travelling on buses and how much to go to certain places. And also pointed us in the right direction for trying lap lap and kava. The night time receptionist was not as knowledgeable about the tours as the day time receptionist was but was still eager to help.
Bed was comfy
Nice view from the balcony, can see water. Saw a P&O cruise ship sailing in one day!
There is a tv but only 3 channels that worked (in our room anyway), 2 of which were aussie channels (SBS and channel 9). Although we didn't mind since watching tv there wasn't priority. There is a dvd player though.
Most importantly, there is air con! very very nice in the sticky humid heat =)
We took our parents here as a surprise for their 50th wedding anniversary, and loved every minute of it! We had two small children with us (2yo and 4yo), and everyone - young and old - just loved our stay. The staff were incredibly helpful and polite, and could not do enough for us. Our parents had an overwater villa which was just beautiful, and they had stairs from their back deck down into the lagoon, and were able to swim from there. A million fish and starfish - it was amazing! The giant swimming pool was great, and there was a large children's pool which the kids loved. The hotel has plenty of facilities to keep everyone entertained. Highly recommended!
